Help with OCing 2600k and Z68x-UD5

Hi, i recently upgraded my system to an i7 2600K and Gigabyte GA-Z68x-UD5-B3.
I followed this guide http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,4072.0.html but i am only able get to 4.6GHz, but its not stable because when i run IntelBurn Test V2.4 it crashes and i get the blue screen. Its only stable at 4.4GHz.
I did all the steps from Stage 2 but it only work with 46x, i tried 50x and 48x, but when it gets to Windows loading i get the blue screen, after that when i'm in the bios it says that there was some problems with the overclocking and the multiplier have been downgraded.
I also set the memory from Turbo to Standard.
I need some help here, i want to get to 5.0GHz.

Hi

It might be that you don't have the hardware to enable that high an overclock. Some chips etc overclock better than others and just because one will reach a certain level doesn't mean the one next to it will do the same.

Have you disabled Turbo for the CPU ?

What are your temperatures ?

Yes I turned off Intel Turbo Boost.
I dont think its the lack of hardware that is the cause of that. Here is my config:
Core i7 2600k cooled by Noctua NH-D14
Gigabyte GA-Z68-UD5-B3
GTX 570 EVGA Superclocked
4GB DDR3 1600 Corsair (7-8-7-20)
Corsair TX750W
2x500GB in RAID 0

With OC to 4.4GHz the temps running Prime95 are:
CPU: 57C
Core #0: 60C
Core #1: 62C
Core #2: 66C
Core #3: 62C
Ps: the room temperature is 30C.

All of your hardware seems to be of good quality and up to the job but as I mentioned before that doesn't necessarilly mean that the CPU will play ball.

That's life mate! You brought i7 2600K for 3.40GHz and easy overclocked to 4.40GHz, you should be happy with that. Every cpu chip is a winner and loser and every chip is different vcore voltages, some can get 5GHz easy with low vcore and some couldn't get 5GHz unless more vcore is needed. The true fact is Intel i7 2600K get 4.5GHz about 50% of the chips will do that. Only 10% of the chips will get 5GHz or more. So, 10% is very hard to pick the magic chip out of the box. It like toss up your coin win or lose.

The i5 2500K chip is crazy less vcore voltages to get 5GHz easy than i7 2600K!

If you want to get 5GHz you have to keep buying i7 2600K cpu chip until u get a lucky magic chip but it isn't worth it to be honest and just stick what you got! Why would you want 5GHz for ? Between 4.4 and 5.0 gain no different in performance and will overkill the cpu.

You can try 4.8GHz with LLC Level 5 and set bios vcore at 1.38v and on windows under load it will be vary from 1.32v to 1.38v if your chip can handle this voltage well.

I would kept vcore below 1.38v for 24-7 in use.

Actually no, you bought a 2600K to stay at 3.4Ghz. That is all that you can genuinely expect to get out of a i7 2600K CPU any more is a pure bonus!
