-I've reseated the motherboard and GPU
-All fans work
-Monitor displays "DVI-D Power saving mode"

1 beep on motherboard speaker.
What is the problem

Hi and welcome.

Basically the monitor is telling you it is not getting any signal.

Your single beep on the motherboard speaker is telling you that it passed POST ok.

Therefore it is down to your GPU or cable. Have you checked that your power to the GPU is still good ? Both power sockets filled ?
Possibly the GPU is dead. Did you remove it during the upgrade ?

Hello. Thanks for the reply. I assumed it was the GPU so I swapped it out for a brand new one. I'm pretty sure it's not the PSU/Cables because I've tried a stress test of running it for 1 hour and it didn't shut off so Im assuming that the PSU is fine. I put the GPU in the 2nd PCI slot and I no longer got "Power Saving Mode". Instead, the screen turned blank and after a few minutes a red screen came up saying to insert the system disc. So Im thinking its the 1st PCI slot. I can't leave the GPU in the 2nd slot though because it blocks the SATA cable areas. So should I just go to the store where I got the mobo and swap it out?

Yes you will need to approach the retailer for an RMA and if necessary point him to this thread. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

I went to Frys where I originally got it and swapped it out. I plugged everything in but now instead of going to Power Saving mode, the screen stays black. Any ideas?

Have you got the card installed in the PCIEx16_1 slot ?

Have you tried another cable to the monitor ?

So I got a red screen and scan lines. Everyone from tech forums/chat pointed to the GPU so I got it swapped out(this is the 3rd one) and Im still getting the same issue. I dont think its the GPU anymore. The monitor is practically new so that can't be it. If I have to swap out the motherboard as well, that's the 3rd one as well. I'm quite dissatisfied  at this point.

Don't get caught out by making assumptions. Just because your monitor is nearly new doesn't mean that it can't be faulty. Test everything.

If you can borrow a friends monitor and see if you get the same response with it. Same with the leads. As you say it doesn't seem to be the GPU or the motherboard so start checking other things. Is your memory ok ? Try running Memtest86+ on the modules, one stick at a time.

Please follow these instructions exactly.

I would suggest that you download and run the latest version of  Memtest86+ to check your RAM first.

Memtest86+        http://www.memtest.org/

Insert one stick of memory in slot 1 and run Memtest on it for at least 10 complete loops/cycles and if there are no errors then swap it over with the next one and continue untill you have checked all  modules.
 
If you have any errors the module is faulty.

If you have any faulty modules you will have to return the whole kit as they are matched.

Post back when you have done that with the results.

Its not the monitor because onboard graphics works flawlessly.
Ran memtest and no errors. :|

Sorry but I can't believe that you have had time even to run Memtest fully yet.

On the onboard graphics port have you been using the same cable and monitor port or a different one ?

You don't have to believe me. Memtest is the first thing other tech guys told me to do so I did.
I am also using the same cable+monitor for onboard graphics.

There is not much left but I think the next thing to do is to remove the motherboard form the case and test it on the workbench.

Make sure that you observe anti-static precautions.

Lay some cardboard or use the motherboard box that is non-conductive on the worktop and remove the motherboard/CPU/heatsink/fan/buzzer/one stick of memory and PSU from the case and put it on the cardboard. Add the keyboard and  try and boot. The system should try and then fail emitting a series of beeps. Please post what sounds it makes.

Hi,

I had the same problem with my Z68GA. I have a dual monitor setup, a Samsung and a AOC. First I connected both displays, they flashed some Gigabyte images and went black. The hard drive light was active, so I waited a couple minutes and the Windows login sound played. Since the system was indeed loading, I discarded the OS as the cause.

Then I connected just the AOC and, again, nothing happened. When I connected just the Samsung one however, the computer booted up fine and I was able to connect the AOC monitor after Windows loaded. As soon as I restarted the computer, both screens went black again. Since my AOC monitor is somewhat old, it might not be HDCP compatible, so I switched it's cable back to VGA (with a DVI adapter) and everything works perfectly now.
