Z68A-D3H-B3 Difficulty accessing bios
« on: August 23, 2011, 03:47:01 am »
I am having difficulty accessing bios with a USB keyboard.  If I plug a PS/2 keyboard into the motherboard, it goes straight to bios when I hit delete.  That is not the case when I use my standard USB  Logitech lighted keyboard.  I have reflashed the bios with no improvement, currently running F10.  I have attempted to use another USB keyboard, again with no ability to access bios.  Using the PS/2 keyboard, I check USB settings in bios, and USB is turned on with legacy settings engaged.  I am out of ideas.  Anyone have any advice?  Thanks for reading.

Hi and welcome.

There are certain issues with some Logitech keyboards before Windows loads the drivers for them. It could be yours falls into this category. The other thing to make sure is that the Legacy USB Devices and Storage is enabled in the BIOS to give you control over these components in the DOS environment before Windows starts up.

Thanks for your reply Dark Mantis.  I changed USB keyboards out with a Kensington USB keyboard I had on another computer and still had the same problems.  Also, legacy USB is turned on in Bios.  Not sure what else to do but start a ticket with Gigabyte.

Well certainly get in touch with GGTS and see if they can help because they usually take a few days to answer so the sooner you ask the better.

Please expect several days for a reply.

Try using a PS2 keyboard as opposed to a USB one. Often works where the USB won't. I just realised that you have already done that and it does work ok. At least you have a way to get into the BIOS with it. ;)

It may well be that you will need to RMA the board. If so you will need to contact your retailer in the first instance.
