GA-H67N-USB3-B3 USB3 and Lan problems
« on: August 25, 2011, 12:33:50 pm »
Hi guys,

I found some problem with my machine

1. If I disable LAN from BIOS,  the USB3 ports are also disabled.  Is this expected?
2. When I boot using my flash card reader + 8GB SD card, USB2 port works but the USB3 port would fail with some read errors.
3. When cold boot with my WD World Essential USB3 external drive plugged in to the USB3 port, it will boot twice.

BIOS version F5 and updated to F6e still the same.
Any insight?

Thanks,

Hi and welcome.

I can see no reason why the LAN controller being disabled in the BIOS should have any effect on the USB3.0 ports.

These flash card readers often seem to cause problems in one way or another. I don't know why it would do as you describe but I can't say I am surprised.

There have been a few teething troubles with the USB3.0 devices many of which are sorted out by a BIOS update. Are you overclocking anything at all ? Perhaps a little more information about your setup would help throw some light on things.

Yea strange indeed.  Would anyone be able to test this board and verify?

Still, it works fine on USB2 ports.  I'll test other devices.

No overclocking.  (The graphics card is OC version by manufecture but that should be fine)

I tried another USB drive.   USB3 port boot failed at a different place.  USB2 port works fine.

It's a bootable Ubuntu Linux 11.04 made using unetbootin

I see people mentioned latest Renesas Firmware here:

http://www.station-drivers.com/page/nec.htm
(use google translate to English)

My Renesas USB3 Controller Utility reports 4015  and the one in the link above is 401502

Should I update?

By all means try updating as they must have made some changes and make sure that you have the latest of everything but with this do make sure that all the old drivers are totally removed before installing the new ones or they won't work properly.
