F5 BIOS for 990FXA UD5

Hi,

Does anyone know if the F5 BIOS posted on Gigabyte's website on 29th Aug supersedes the F5c beta BIOS I have?

I don't know for sure but normally when the BIOS is distributed as the full F5 it is because it is superceding the beta versions.

Yes, the F5 does supercede the F5c BETA BIOS. I have downloaded it and am currently testing it on my system and there is already a difference in the way the memory is being handled.

I'm not sure what other things have been tweaked in the BIOS but, after updating and making some changes to the default BIOS settings, Windows 7 had a bit of a hissy fit and had to reload all of the main system drivers before it would settle down.

I will do some testing later on and post back if I discover any major problems.

Sorry to but in but just wanted to know if I have to apply all the BIOS updates or just the F5 ?

Hi there,

You can safely go straight to F5 in this instance. If there is a big gap between BIOS versions ie running F2 & F7 is latest version then it is advisable to do it in stages.

yeah i noticed the drivers thing too, had to re-install ccc as well. everything else seems exactly the same to me. same vdroop under load, same vboost at idle. ram still only getting 1.62v even though 1.65 is set in the BIOS.

i read on overclock that the new UD3 BIOS had LLC control added but only for PCB revision 1.1? I'm guessing if its also been added to the new UD5 BIOS then you wouldn't see it unless you had a revision 1.1 board? Which I guess basically means the feature is useless to us 1.0 owners? If so I'll be selling it and will never buy another Gigabyte board
