It will give you that error even if it is a correct update but of a different size ie they have increased it to make it big enough for the EFI/BIOS. You would need to use FLASHSPI instead for the update.

Hi there,

a checksum error can be caused by several things and the best thing to try is downloading the update again, in case it got corrupted during the download process. The F3 BIOS is now available on the Gigabyte download site here: http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3894&dl=1#bios

Yes, basically that's it. I would just add that when you use QFlash to run the update, you disable the "Keep DMI Data" option on the QFlash homescreen first. If you're not sure of how to update using QFlash check here: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,2441.msg13929.html#msg13929

Keep DMI disabled now, so do i still go ahead with checksum e000? becouse it came up again, updated bios quiet a few times already, and never had this before, slightly worried

No, if you're getting a checksum error don't try and run the update. It shouldn't let you update anyway but best to be safe than sorry.

Do you get the same problem if you download the BIOS from the Overclocker's link?

It could be that his BIOS is corrupted already in some way and hence the BIOS checksum error. It might be worth using the Backup BIOS to flash the Main one first.

The easiest way is to try this. It might take a few attempts to get it right.

You can kick in the backup BIOS by shutting down the PSU from the wall, then hold down your case power button in and then turn on the power supply button, a few seconds later the board will start, shut off the power supply then.   Then you can turn on the power supply again and power up the board normally and DualBIOS will kick in.

Did i mess things up if i just updated bios via @bios thing to F2 again?
from what i can understand is the actual bios got corrupt and even if i throw fresh bios over it, it wont solve the problem?
Now that i have fresh F2 bios, it still wont let me install F3 bios in Qflash, however @bios might be able to do it through the update from file option, but i dont really want to use that as am not 100% sure of the outcome

If the BIOS is corrupt the ONLY way to recover is to flash it from the Backup BIOS.

Just done all those steps you described earlier, it did retrieve bios, from dual bios, cant remember exactly what it said. After that, i've tried to update again and checksum e000 again, well confused at this point, can both of my bioses be corrupt?
Another thing i've noticed is that @bios does not have F3 on there, not sure if its not been uploaded there yet

No the chances of both your BIOS versions being corrupt is nearly impossible. Are you sure that you are looking at the correct revision for your motherboard as well as model number ?

Pretty sure i am, not the first board i've done, and i've updated this one as well. I've done the power trick to restore bios and it did, but problem did not go away. downloading bios for giga site or the overclockers link didnt help even though my board is ga-990fxa-ud3. I've no idea what could cause this. Have you got anything that i could try? maybe i should wait for @bios to have F3 available? becouse currently theres only F2, really confiused about all this.. no idea what to do
