Z68X-UD7-B3 showing half of memory
« on: September 08, 2011, 04:05:29 pm »
I have a new Z68 board with two Corsair 8GB sticks in slot 1 and 3 (16GB total). When I boot up, BIOS only shows 8GB. At first I thought one of the sticks must be faulty and it was only showing the one that was working. However, when I went into the memory section of BIOS, it is actually showing two x 4GB. So I updated from F8 to F9C, same problem - though was going to do this anyway.

So, I pulled out the sticks and dropped them into my other computer with a different brand Z68 mobo and it shows 16GB. Anyone run into this before and have an idea what might be the problem?

Grateful for any ideas, thanks!

Hi and welcome.

I haven't heard of this happening before on this motherboard but these 8GB sticks are quite uncommon at the mopment because of the price so that could be  the reason. Obviously it is just a matter of reporting the correct amount as it is seen in the other board. I would say that it is a BIOS issue and it only sees the 4GB size not the full 8GB that it should be. I think you will have to contact GGTS and let them know so as they can let you have a customised BIOS version just to get you working.

As a matter of interest what memory have you got ?

Just enter your email address and click on the language of choice.

Dear Brianj26,

Have you try, boot with not overcloking?

Try with a clear Cmos. And choose Optimized Default in Bios Main Page.

Try our Ram, one by one, in each slot.

My idea finaly, put our Ram in bank ram 2 and bank ram 4.

If possible, make a comments for give other infos about this Topic.

What is the exact model of Corsair, did you?
