USB Legacy
« on: September 26, 2011, 06:26:22 pm »
I have a GA-Z68XP-UD4 and for some reason the USB Legacy enabled doesn't allow me to use my Razer Lycosa Keyboard to access the Bios.
Any suggestions other than using a PS2 connection.

Also, the metal backplate for the ins/outs covers some of the top 2 USB ports preventing me from using them (Mispressed, wrong one?)
Can you get replacements ?

For accessing BIOS try pressing "Fn" function key and than "DEL" ( Fn + DEL).

i hope this will help you. :)

I wish it was that simple, but my keyboard doesn't use an "Fn" key or "F-Lock" key

Hi

For the backplate I/O problem I would try reseating the motherboard and see if you can get it to fit better if it is only a small distance out. Obviously if it is drastically wrong then get hold of the retailer or manufacturer for a new one.

To help with the issue with entering the BIOS I would suggest trying to do a thorough CMOS clear.

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least half an  hour before replacing it.

Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.

You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Optimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.

Doesn't work. Lights are "On" keyboard during post screen.. Just can't get into Bios or any of the other options during post screen with a USB keyboard.

If you have TouchBIOS or any other bundled software installed try removing it.

Flashed my Bios to F4 again.. but using QFlash this time (Had to buy a new Flash drive, last one was knackered), used @Bios last time and won't be doing that again.

And... Works.. Can use USB Keyboard to get to Bios.

Switched External USB Drive to USB 3.0/2.0 rather than having everything on 2.0/1.1 slots, not like I'm gonna run out of spare USB slots. Removed @Bios, On/Off Charge and TouchBios.. Just to be sure.

Looks like the back plate is just a slight mispress, bottom is perfect, just goes ever so slightly out as it goes up.

Other than the 2 little problems another lovely board from gigabyte..

Thanks for the help/advice DarkMants and Deathchant from http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,6920.msg54498.html#msg54498

Very happy to been able to help. I didn't think it could be much but sometimes trying to pin it down can be difficult. ;)
