Hello

I Have just recently bought myself a new pc and to that i bough a SSD and a normal hard drive

In the gigabyte program that was with the BIOS there were the program XHD which sounded good so i tried it out. Now i only bought the SSD to put my OS on that and then i would put all my games and stuff on the hard drive.
Now both my SSD and Hard drive is together in the Intel Rapid Storage Technology becuase of XHD and i cant seem to seperate them or to just put something in my hard drive.

im getting really desperate please help me

Hi

The thing is the XHD is really designed to help with RAID arrays and not single disks like you are operating. I would suggest making a backup of all your important data and then clearing the drives to start again. Before you start installing Windows  make sure that you select AHCI mode in the BIOS. You don't mention any other specifications of your hardware or I would try and advise you on the besty way to configure your system.

yea i guess im just gonna try to clear the drives and start from the top

But how do i start from the top with a ssd? I only have data on my ssd becuase i have started yesterday but i have heard that you need to do something different from a normal hard drive when clearing a ssd

my ssd model is: OCZ-Agility3

I expect that you have some sort of tool kit for your SSD drive. If you have I would tend to use that to clean the drive off. What you are looking for is a secure erase program. Basicaly it just makes sure all the data is wiped and everything put back in order as it should be.

If you haven't got any specific OCZ software then just Google for a secure erase program and use whichever takes your fancy.

i have looked arround but i cant seem to find a program for it. On OCZ website i downloaded the tools for my ssd so i could use the secure erase program it features but when i open it, it says it could'nt find a OCZ driver
anyone know what to do?

When you installed the SSD exactly how did you set it up and what mode is it in, etc ?

in the BIOS i enabled RAID(XHD) in PCH SATA Control Mode. After that i just installed my OS on it (windows 7 64-bit). After installing my motherboard (Z68-d3-b3) i also installed the feature XHD which putted my SSD and my hard drive together in a way that i dont think i undetstand fully.

If i look Intel Rapid Storage Technology i can see my ssd and hard drive under one by the name Array_0000 and under that there is a Raid 0 called Volume_0000

I hoper that covers all what u needed.

It just goes to show that you shouldn't play with things you don't understand!   (even worse don't play with things I don't understand!!)

I think from what you have said you will need to break the RAID array you have made and then you should be able to access the disks seperately. The thing is a Secure Erase must be done from a IDE mode controller so the first thing to do is move the SSD to a port that can be configured like that. Once done you can run the program and it will write a series of 0s or 1s to the disk so that every location is rewritten. Normally to run the secure erase you have to boot into IDE mode first.

On boot up press CTRL+I to enter the RAID utility and you will find the option there.
