Is my Video card OK at 92-93 Centigrate?

Is my Video card OK at 92-93 Centigrate?
« on: October 05, 2011, 01:04:06 am »
Hi I'm the proud owner of a 5770 Super Overclock series card.  My question is can the card withstand 24 hours a day running (bit mining) at 92 to 93 centigrate.  I've overclocked the card to about 940 Mhertz from 900 Mhertz, if I dont over clock the temperature goes down to about 90 degrees.

Also does my card self protect itself if it gets to hot?  Say by throttling itself down or even turning itself off.  I have to admit it seems to be a little tough card but I don't want to abuse it unecessarily, but I do feel 'protected' with Gigabytes three year warranty  ;D

Anyhow I was just wondering how smart the card is on its own self/care.

Thanks for any and all feedback.

I really hope that those degrees are in Farenheit and not in Celcius! :)

If in Celcius, well you are definitely doing something wrong because that card shouldn't cross 80°C (176°F) in any occasion (full load)!
On the other hand, if temperature is in °F then you are pretty much on the safe side - that temperature is very good for this card because its idle temp isn't that low, around 35°C (95°F)...

90 degrees Celsius is a bit hot, I take it that is when fully loaded ?

A lot of these newer cards do get hot but it isn't a good idea to keep running them at that temperature all the time.

Thanks for the quick feedback guys.   I'm using MSI Afterburner so I assume its Celsius.  I can't imagine MSI putting out a tool that does Fahrenheit.   Since I got the Gigabyte super overclock series and they cherry picked the components I figure its one tough card. Right now its making me some money (not a lot) but approximately fifteen bucks a month running 24 hours a day bitmining.

I don't think it would make any money if I was doing it at home and paying $.20 a kilowatt hour here in San diego, but since its in the company office I figure just let it do its thing.

I have good ventilation in the case three 80mm fans and one 120mm fan flowing away, so anyways I'll keep you guys informed as to its progress and hardiness.  Go Gigabyte Go!
