Where to get a GA-890FXA-UD5, revision 3.1?

Where to get a GA-890FXA-UD5, revision 3.1?

Do you have any idea about how to get this fantastic mainboard now... and if so, where?
I have been asking everywhere... but it seems that it is out of stock everywhere... worse yet, it seems to be out of production.
It is such a pity because it is such a wonderful mainboard, the best one, really...!
It has an AM3+ (AM3b) socket, so it is Bulldozer (Zambezi)-ready, it has all the nifty features: a PATA port, an LPT port and an IOMMU, as it has an AMD 890FX chipset. I know that the 900-series chipsets do have an IOMMU, but they do not have the above-mentioned goodies (esp. not that LPT port).

Oh, you are awesome, Aussie Allan, thank you very much, that must have taken a lot of work! I do appreciate it!
However, it seems that they are revisions 2.0 or 2.1, unfortunately. In fact, I have written a local distributor here in Slovakia and its product manager answered me that he had a couple of revision 2.0 and 2.1 mainboards, but no revision 3.1 ones!
I have written some of my Slavic brethren who still have this revision in their catalogues; however, I doubt that those Polish ones could have it, as no Polish Gigabyte distributor (and I have checked them all according to the links on Gigabyte's website) lists it any longer; I have also asked some Russian ones about it, but I wonder how things will be when ordering something from outside the EU...

It is strange that the older revisions are still hanging around, while the newer ones have almost mysteriously disappeared...!
I have even asked Gigabyte about it, but their reply has not been particularly helpful, to put it mildly...

I had another look-around the globe .... no new ones to speak of .....the 3.1 are like Pterodactyl teeth , they is!...... besides what you're doing already .... persistence will eventually pay ..... keep bugging every outlet you can think of.

If you ring enough people, all the time, they will eventually find you one,...... just to get rid of you ...hahahahahahahahah!

Keep tabs on Ebay aswell .... Everything eventually comes up .... when it does, .... don't quibble, just buy it or you'll kick yourself!

Why don't you just go with GA-990FXA-UD3/UD5 ?

Well that's a bit silly, cause 890FXA-UD5 is more expensive than 990FXA-UD5. And the most important thing is that the 9 Series AMD chipsets have SLI ability.

maybe if we're patient he will give us a reason why he seems to have his blinkers on in your view

I suspect he has a good reason, Valid or not....Hell, I'm still running an X58A ..... but I have my reasons!

Seems fair enough. :)

And I maybe know one of your reasons why you still have an X58.
It has 2x PCI-e x16 lanes and 2x x8 lanes, while the others don't. That would be my first main reason.

Partly! ..... PCI-E based drives do like bandwidth ... and less chance of IRQ conflicts to boot with all the toys I have connected up

But the main reason?........... it's only every 3rd or 4th chipset generation do you get a real kick in performance for your money spent

Guess what's next ;) .... 6 months ago I was a tad worried whether I did the right thing missing Z68 ...... not anymore with what Ive read in the last couple of weeks ... it may take a version or two to get really clean but it will destroy .......well.... the other one ;)

Well that's a bit silly, cause 890FXA-UD5 is more expensive than 990FXA-UD5. And the most important thing is that the 9 Series AMD chipsets have SLI ability.
Well, it seems to me that the GA-890FXA-UD5 is still cheaper than the GA-990FXA-UD5. And as for "the most important thing"—well, I would call it the most significant thing—that they come with the "SLI tax". I fact, I believe that this is the reason why they are more expensive.
SLI has no utility for me, I would not put an NVIDIA graphics card into my computer simply for ethical reasons—do you remember their disabling it in the presence of an ATI graphics card? Some people wanted to use a NVIDIA card as, ahem, a FizzX :-) accelerator, while using an ATI card as a graphical card—but this was impossible, because of NVIDIA's policy. In fact, I remember that it was only possible with "faulty" NVIDIA drivers, as you certainly remember. And I also hate the very concept of the SLI tax, although I suppose that it is much lower than the quoted 50 $ some 6 years ago.
Besides, I have no interest in either a SLI setup, or a Crossfire setup, mainly because it is needlessly expensive, it doubles the power draw, it would require 1 more full-cover waterblock (otherwise it would be rather noisy), etc.

And no, online auction sites (eBay and such) do not look like a viable option, simply because nobody would like to get rid of such a perfect mainboard, at least not at this time, certainly.

I need it for the things mentioned in the original post.  I need the PATA port for my DVD burners—I have almost a stockpile of them (3), they are almost new (or almost unused), and I would hate to throw them away and I would like to save myself the hassle of another add-on controller card. I was buying the PATA burners simply because they were always better than their SATA counterparts, simply because SATA drives look like SCSI drives to Windows and older games have had problems with them, I assume you know why (because of the suspected presence of Daemon Tools). So, why not choose a PATA one, right? (Especially when I am such a zealous Intel hater and very conservative when it comes to choosing media for burning.)

However, then there is a bigger problem: all the AMD 900-series mainboards lack an LPT port. And I really need one, at least from time to time, for my EEPROM programmer. Having built it myself, I have something of an emotional attachment to it. Most people bashing me for requiring an LPT port usually have no idea what it is really good for. While they often suggest me an USB replacement, they forget that it is an order of a magnitude harder, I have seen a book on it and its thickness alone made me scared of all such considerations. Not that it would be impossible... but as I am getting older, lazier, less skilful and more stupid, I am more and more reluctant to do such otherwise unnecessary things...  Programming for the LPT port is really easy and the cost of its inclusion is very low, as the super I/O chip already provides the functionality, so it is mostly a matter of including the respective header. And with the insane number of USB ports or headers for them, I cannot see a reason why an LPT port could not make it way into the mainboard. E.g. I cannot possibly imagine how a sane person could need more than, say, 8 USB port, let alone 14...! I know that I could get an LPT add-on card, but that costs about 20 € more and comes with the additional nuisance of an otherwise unnecessary add-on card.

Unfortunately, the GA-990FXA-UD5 has neither of these features.

And there you go! ,.... good, sound reason why he wants the board he wants .... who are we to argue with such personal logic!

Don't discredit Ebay too quickly ..... some people just don't understand what there selling and can't spell ...... I purchased an old beatup computer on ebay last year (deceased estate) that had a GTX-480 card in it ;) ..... £16 ....Thankyou God!
