790FXTA-UD5 - AMD RAID not working at all

I have older motherboard 790FXTA-UD5 .
I used Marvell sata3 in raid 0 mode till now. Today I tried to make new RAID on AMD chipset but without any success.
All is configured exactly how it should be but I am stucked on message “scanning drives” . The message does not disappear even after 5 minutes.
I have to reset CMOS to get back to BIOS.
When is Sata controller set to AHCI or IDE the BIOS  detects my drives correctly only when I set it to RIAD I have these problems.
Should I try to update BIOS ? but there is no info about raid improvement.

Can anyone help ?

Hi there,

The first step would be to update BIOS just to see if that helps. Sadly, not a lot of information is given about these updates so it could be that something may have been changed to improve things.

I would recommend using the QFlash utility to update BIOS and also that you disable the "Keep DMI Data" option on the QFlash homepage. If you are not sure of how to update the BIOS using QFlash check here: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,2441.msg13929.html#msg13929

I tried this way back and I don't think I got it right, so I'll read this with interest. BIOS update was ok though.

I made a BIOS update and it helped. I used last beta.
There are really missing information in the bios description. The startup, hard drive  and memory detection is faster. Plus there is an option to choose between motherboard or onchip firmware for sata3 marvell controller.

pleased that updating BIOS seems to have helped. I would have to agree that the lack of information regarding exactly what issues are addressed with new versions, leaves a lot to be desired.
