PLEASE help :( 3 long beeps on motherboard

Hi all,

I bought this motherboard brand new:
Gigabyte 990XA-UD3 AMD 990X (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard

As well as this new mobo I bought 2x brand new 6870 cards.

It's upgrading my old PC which was working fine.  I put the computer together, and when I try to turn it on I get 3 long beeps, a pause and then it does 3 long beeps again etc.

I took it all apart again, and put it back together following the word of the manual.  Same 3 beeps.

I took the RAM out, and it did 3 long beeps and one short beep (ram is missing error code I think).  I put the ram back in, I try 1 stick, 2 sticks in ever combination of position.  Still same 3 long beeps.

I try a single 6870 in each PCIe slot, still the same 3 beeps.
I try the other 6870 in each PCIe slot, same beeps!
I try my old 5770 in all slots, still same 3 beeps!

The 5770 has one VGA power cord going in the back of it.  This if firmly connected to my bequiet 750w PSU.  The 6870's have power slots in the back, I have always made sure these are firmly connected.

Really out of ideas now can anyone please help me?  I'm really excited to get this working!

Hi,

This may help you, take some time out and read it through thoroughly, especially the part where the basic components have been assembled and then bootted up to show the splash screen.

This may help you to identify what is beeping before the installation of the OS.

Also test your RAM with memtest:

Hi

It is possible that the graphics card could be causing the beeps or the memory. However bearing in mind that you have just upgraded the motherboard I would be looking for a short to the chassis, maybe an extra post left from the old board or something ?
