GV-N570OC-13I Rev2.0 high temps?
« on: October 25, 2011, 07:13:28 pm »
I have the GV-N570OC-13I Rev2.0 and am wondering if my temp is abnormally high. Under high load in games such as BFBC2 I see a steady temp of 89c. Also for some strange reason sitting at the main screen of Dawn of War 2 it jumps and stays at the same temp. I have good airflow in my case with a 200mm side panel fan directly over the card. I removed the side panel and that took off maybe 2-3 degrees at most. Lesser load games like Fallout NV run at around 70c and Idle is good around 35-40c. The room temp is about 22c. Running at the high temps makes the card quite loud with fans spinning at 80-90%.

Is this unusual? From most other comments/reviews on the card it ran much cooler than this under load. Looking for any advice on what to do and whether or not I have a faulty card. Thanks!

You are not the first person to mention this and I think it is mostly due to the original testing/reviewing being a bit enthuisiastic shall we say. I would suggest that you check your fan profile though and maybe alter it to suit you more. It sounds as if it reaches a fairly high plateau quickly and then just sits there. Worth checking anyway.

Thanks for the response. I have played around with different fan profiles which mostly helped to reduce noise. A 1-1 ratio worked fairly well. I couldn't seem to reduce the high load temperature very much though. Would it be safe to say that this is standard for the card and not likely something faulty that wouldn't exist in another card? If so I guess I'll have look at methods to improve airflow.

No I suppose I should have made that clear, obviously the fan profiles won't make any impact on the top temperature just how it behaves before it gets there.
The temperature of the card under load sounds about right to me but anything you can do to decrease the temp of the ambient air in the case will help. More throughput of air will at least mean that it doesn't have time to build up.
