Gigabyte 560ti OC Crashing in BF3

Gigabyte 560ti OC Crashing in BF3
« on: October 26, 2011, 10:42:24 am »
Hi Guys,

I've been having great problems with my 560ti. In Battlefield 3 beta it continually crashed every 5 minutes. I thought with the release of the retail version and the new drivers this would fix the problem but it didn't.

I have searched forums, upon forums for the fix - the suggestion; Underclock the card and adjust a few other settings to make it stable...

My problem - I don't believe I should have to underclock factory settings as that was the main selling point for the card in comparison to its MSI rivals.

I, along with many others, have been very patient waiting for some fix upon this. Has Gigabyte given up on fixing the problem? I'd like to know so I can move onto something better.

For the meantime can somebody provide me a link or a detailed explanation as to the underclock settings. I only ask because I have seen many other threads with different settings and I'd rather get it right the first time If I'm actually going to act upon doing this...

Thanks,

Spot

Hi Mantris, thanks for your reply however this is my first time posting on this forum

But I must ask, with all the flashing of BIOS, Isn't it as simple as downloading that program? and Hitting the Auto-Flash Bios? Or the other part with the manually to do it via Startup of windows is necessary to make it completely clean?

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3707&dl=1#bios

The weird thing is, when I run it, it says BIOS does not match your card...I downloaded for my specific model and everything what it says on the box!

I have attached an SS of my version, is this outdated? The other One I need above posted is F1? but mine says 01 on the end?

For some reason when I ran that VGA Bios tool the pop up says I currently have F13 installed? Isn't that the latest? I'm still suffering these crashes a plenty :< I didn't do any flashing that I know of in DOS mode or anything just that program in WIN 7 that says it does it? is that the same thing?

Hi and sorry for the mix up there, it was just that I had only the post before answered an almost identical post and it sounded just like yours.

Anyway to work. The different way of showing the BIOS version is just because they are different programs I think although I must admit it is a bit confusing. No, it's not quite that simple. What is ? You need to find the correct version for the revision of your card first and download it. I expect there is more than one revision and that is where the trouble starts.

I know a lot of people have a similar problem that is usually cleared up by underclocking the card back to default speeds. I agree that you shouldn't need to do this as the card was sold at that speed but apart form returning it I don't know what else you can do. Set it to the default values and then it should be ok.

You can try asking GGTS but I think that you will get a better answer to be honest.

We have the same vcard GTX 560 Ti with the same issue on BF3.

All you need to to is download the BIOS update from http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3707&dl=1#bios .
Then extract the bios you downloaded then read and follow Readme GV-N560OC-1GI.PDF or simply run the BIOS Auto Flash.exe to flash your bios.
It's actually same BIOS version I think after you flash it. But the voltage has been increased from 1.000V to 1.0370V from what I noticed on GPUZ yet same version. But it did actually fix the issue on BF3. I'm now already able to play BF3 straight unlike b4 I update the vga bios it always crashes before I can take a shot. You don't need that vga update tool you mentioned 'coz that will not work even the tool that check if there's new bios.

Give it a try a your own risk. It did work for me so I hope to you and to others too...

Goodluck... ;)

Ok, on the box of my card it says GV-N560OC-1GI, so I go through the prompts to downloads for the card:

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3707#bios

Download the Bios. Run the AUTO-Flash, It says it's not the right card?

Look back at the 560ti names and there's no other title close to the one I have?

The program is correct in that you cannot use the updated file from another , even close, card. It has to be specifically for your model exactly. Just because a card uses the same chip doesn't mean that any firmware for that chip will work.

Ok but on the box it says the model is a GV-n560OC-1GI. That's the one I downloaded?
There's nothing else to download that has a bias for the 560 ti in Gigabyte directory?

It may be that there is more than one revision of this board and if so there will be different versions of the BIOS/firmware for it. Maybe you have not got the correct one.

Have you made sure that your motherboards BIOS is also updated to the latest version ?

Guys just want to let you know of a solution that has fixed my crashing ( I had complete system freeze with in minutes in BF3 constantly with the gigabyte gfx560ti OC)

Using the latest MSI Afterburner I raised the voltage to 1050. That's it.
Card still runs cool (max temp 59)
Not one crash for many hours now.
I didn't flash bios either.

drivers 285.62

Ok, so I'm still having the problem of it coming up and saying wrong card.

But there's only one download section for my GV-N560OC-1GI with no other places for revision so It can't be that?

Why when i run the auto flash bios will it come up and say wrong version still! :(
