Gigabyte z68 mobos + scythe mugen 2

Gigabyte z68 mobos + scythe mugen 2
« on: November 01, 2011, 03:07:09 pm »
Hi!
Is Mugen 2 compatible with GA-Z68XP-UD3P or GA-Z68XP-UD4.
I'm thinking only of motherboard's own heatpipes, I have small DDRs - they'd fit for sure.
From what I see, ud4 has slightly larger heatpipes than ud3p

Hi and welcome.

I am sure that the Scythe Mugen 2 would fit as I have not found any cooler that fouls the heatpipes or heatsinks. If anywhere it is normally the memory modules that cause the problem but if you have the low profile versions then it should be fine. ;)

Hi,

According to Scythe's website there appears to no information relating to the Z68 MB's

I know, compatibility thread on official scythe forum doesn't have this information either

Thing is they cannot possibly test every available motherboard with their product and so you have to accept that if it fits a particular socket genus then unless yours is something way out of the ordinary hopefully it will fit ok. Personally after looking at the socket on your board and the cooler there is no reason for it not to be fine. ;)

If you are still unsure why not go to your local PC store and see if one fits with your board? Or contact Scythe and ask them directly via email, you don't want to spend your €'s only to find it doesn't fit......better safe than sorry.

I don't work for Noctua but there compatibility list see here:

http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=compatibility_gen&products_id=31&lng=en

clearly shows that this particular fan is compatible with your MB.......so no time is wasted or damage for that matter . I'm sure other manufacturers of CPU coolers do the same.

I think Noctua should pay you though technology with the amount of hard work you are putting into selling their products! ;D

Yes a very interesting article especially for beginners in that it explains the dos and donts and why which is often left out. I have made a note of the link for the forum use. Thanks.

Yes I noticed that. Very helpful to point someone to if they are not sure about how to set up a cooling system.
