SSD Compatibility with P43 Chipsets

SSD Compatibility with P43 Chipsets
« on: August 22, 2012, 01:42:54 pm »
Hi everyone, I have a serious question about SSDs. I will purchase an SSD

1)Sandisk Extreme
2)Corsair Force GT
3)OCZ Vertex 3 or 4

I asked the same question to companies above. I askes that does P43 chipsets compatible with these SSDs and answers are not 100% accurate which makes me confused about it. So I decided to ask people who have P43 and use an SSD, will it work 100% or it makes trouble like freeze on boot or not recognizes the SSD or etc...

by the way I have P43 ES 3G ;)

Hi there Xtreme512:
 I have a EP43-UD3L and am currently using 2 Crucial M4 64GB SSD's as boot drives for
two different Linux OS's.
I haven't had any problems with the SSD's at all.
They were recognized right away and have never had any boot problems.
They do make a huge difference in boot times and file transfer times.
They are SATA III drives  and the mobo is SATA II, but they run fine.
The only thing I would suggest is that you research "consumer" reviews on the drives before you buy one. Places like newegg.com or tigerdirect.com have good reviews, and there are other retail sites that have consumer reviews.
Most of the reviews done by web sites are short term tests, and don't go into the reliability of
the drives.
I prefer long term reliability over speed.
I hope this has been of some help to you.

EP43-UD3L, 8G (4x2G) Kingston HyperXT1 DDR2@1066, Intel E6700 3.2G O.C. to 3.9GHZ, 3 WD 500G HDD (2 Blue, 1 Black), 2 Crucial M4 64G SSD's, Nvidia GTS250, CM 690 case, Corsair HX650 PSU,  OS's: Ultimate Edition Linux 3.4-64bit. Scientific Linux 6.2-64 bit.
