Well they turned up today (TNT) for my monitor, I have never packaged anything so quick in my life.
So lets hope all goes well.
In case you are interested or not, i am using my "Vivo" 13.3' yep you read right (or 34cm for you puritans) TV with HDMI input, actually the cable is worth more than the LCD TV.
My eyes are killing me, I practically need a magnifying glass to read what I am writing.
My only other alternative is to use the LCD in the main room its 50' a bit overkill.
Any way just wish to say thanks again to everyone, I did not know I could RMA this, I would probably have  put up with the noise for a little while longer & then bought a new one.
So thanks again, I will let you know how things go.

Further to my last input, I received an email from "AOC" saying that they could not hear the noise or find any fault with the monitor & asked to write back with more details, which I did (they also mentioned it had a crack on the outside bezel & if I had noticed it, I hadn't.
I have also told them if they cannot hear or fix the problem to just send it back to me & I will try & sell it & purchase either another "AOC" brand or  different brand as I am unfamiliar with the "AOC" brand.

This was on Friday hopefully I will get a reply on Monday as to what route they will take.

Will keep you all updated in this saga.

Ben.

Whilst you cannot always believe everything that comes out of the technicians workshop or indeed the Customer Services section, the technicians often work in a fairly noisy environment not like your home where the noise you are complaining of is easy to hear. It may very well not be in the workshop and wouldn't be the first time that I have heard that reasoning only to have them agree later on when they have taken it to a "quiet room" for testing. Maybe you could suggest this to them.

Hi all,  ;)

I am a hard of hearing. So I wear hearing aids. I am familiar with the sound test.

I have a suggestion...

Use a soundproof cabin. Like a picture below.

Thanks DM, I did mention on my update to them that they may not hear the noise, as my room is very quiet, so hopefully they will take it somewhere quieter.

So fingers crossed they will resolve the matter.

Hey Gloup_Gloup I think that is a bit overkill, plus my room is small, 3 Mtrs x 2.5 Mtrs.

Well they say things happen in threes, my 1 month old lawnmower now starts but wont stop I have to manually remove the spark plug cover to get it to stop so I have returned that today, so now waiting for the 3rd thing to happen.

At least both have warranties, but I am putting my money on the lawnmower.

Ben.

Hi Ben,  ;)

I was thinking it would be the store to have this kind of cab.
In any case it is terribly expensive.
Certainly not for you to pay it.

Just wondering how long should I wait for a reply regards my monitor, as I have sent AOC three Emails the last one today regards my monitor, I even replied to them as to what the problems was, (as per one of my posts) & still nadda.

So any help in this area would be great.

Thanks.

 Ben.

PS my lawnmower is now fixed yippee.

Hi Ben,

Well I would get a copy of the warranty first and read through it carefully to see what AOC's obligations are and see if they have / haven't met any of them. Do they state how long it will take for them to respond? Keep the copies of the emails you have sent to them and the date.

Also, find out who is in charge of Technical Support as it might be an idea to write to them, by recorded post, and explain the situation and what you have been experiencing. From what you say the monitor is making a noise and is under warranty so they should honour the warranty. You should be more insistant .

There warranty agreement should be on there website if you have not got a copy.

Remember you are the consumer.....and as I have suggested before you can get some advice from a consumer watchdog in Austrailia.....so why dont you just find out? But if your happy playing email tennis.......and waiting for the ball to returned then carry on.

Thanks for the response "T9" , no, I don't really like playing email tennis either.

But I believe in giving the 'benefit of the doubt'  will wait till tomorrow for a reply if I don't get any, i will contact "AOC" direct.

I have copies of all the emails I have sent & received.

Will keep you posted, as for the watchdog I will use that as a last resort.

Thanks.

The choice is yours Ben......and I don't know how long you have been waiting......but you did ask even though you have stated:
Quote
But I believe in giving the 'benefit of the doubt'  will wait till tomorrow for a reply if I don't get any

To contact the watchdog is only to obtain information so that you are informed as to what rights you have and not to take any action.

There are some RMA depts who give you an indication of how long it will be before they respond......normally each and every time you contact them.

On the upside.....your lawnmover is working!!! :D

Seriously Ben, I sincerely hope you get this matter resolved......monitors cost a lot of money and when you are trying to solve the problem communication is important. But I would, not wanting to sound patronising, keep calm and remain level headed. If you are well informed then you can  make better decisions.

Well I just got a reply today this is what I got;

Your monitor is not making any noise. It has no faulty components and when it was taken out of its box a technician noticed straight away that you have a cracked bezel.
We will be returning it to you in the next few days.
Regards,
AOC Support Team.

(Hi Ben
Our technician has checked your monitor and found no buzzing noise…are you able to provide us with more details of where the noise is coming from?
This will help us to resolve the issue if any.
Also, the bezel or cover of the screen has been cracked when received. Are you aware of the crack?
Pls advise & hope to hear from you soon.
AOC Support Team. Date;  Friday2 December 2011 10;47 AM ).

Above is the first email they sent me took them that long to reply, even though I sent other email's as to what was happening.

To my knowledge there was no cracked bezel.

When I receive it I will check it out for sound & also the crack on it.

Re, an advert on tv, "not Happy Jan" I certainly am not, I will also contact their HQ's & inform them of this.

Next time I will buy a known brand.

Ben,
Grrrrrr.

Hey guess what? wrong, They have lost my monitor it seems they sent it to an address in Queensland, they are trying to track it down.

Oh & they said about the cracked bezel that when they opened it the techie took a photo of it.

I said it wasn't cracked when I sent it, they asked did I take a photo to prove it?

Who takes photos?

So will have to wait & see what happens next.

I'm dealing with clowns.
