990xa-ud3 core unlcock
« on: November 27, 2011, 01:53:05 pm »
I've been trying to unlock a 960t to a 5 or 6 core. The cores can be unlocked at bios but windows will not boot. On my latest effort I've enabled core unlock and manually disabled all cores except 0 (which cant be disabled). Even then windows will not boot. Seems core 0 is the defective. Is there any way to disable core 0 and enable all others?

Hi guy ;)

I've got the ma790gp (ddr2) equipped with the sb750 southbridge which allows me to use ACC function and i've recently changed my x3 720 be for this "magic" x4 960t be... Like i've done with my 720 i've turned on the hybrid ec firmware and enabled the Acc function on "auto" (this allowed me to unlock the 4th core on my ex-720) but what was my big surprise when this same manipulation led me to several crashes... mainboard booted but it crashed everytime when win7 started...i've stayed 4 days disappointed with the only satisfaction of succeeded in o/cing my 960t at 20x200 @ 1,525v cnq on but turbocore off, when i decided to unlock my cpu for the last chance... i've turned on once again the hybrid ec firmware but instead of setting on "auto" ACC function i set it on "manual" and disabled each core one by one except the "core 0" which cannot be disabled and then i've enabled each core one by one (needed one reboot for each manipulation) and succeeded in unlocking the 5th core which allowed me to transform my 960T to a x5 1600T, even though cpu-z 1.59 tells it's a x6 1600T... Once this manip made i've overclock this x5 and there is the cpu-z validator banner : -->

P.S: Unfortunately i haven't been able to unlock the 6th core...  :'( :-\ :-[

hello.
I have a phenom x2 550 (revision RB-C2) and was wondering what I'm doing wrong when  unlock the cores in bios.
already put in auto unlock core and windows starts and i go to the net and everything but when I put the prime blocks computer
when i put in three core, windows starts  i play fifa, need for speed  the run but after a while the computer crashes and reset is the solution. i dont have any blue screen. if i put prime with the youtube computer freezes.
already put the memory voltage 1.6, 1.5 cpu voltage. Nortbrige 1.2 cpu, cpu 1.4 NB Control VDD  and  HT Link  to 1.3.
another thing is that in 2 cores i put the speed of 3.8 and nb to 2700 and ht link to 2700 and computer goes ok with the prime95 and youtube.
Sorry for bad english
thanks

Seems something related to an strange Bios coding, if not, I really dont know @ this weird behaviour in our boards.
BTW seems Hybrid option was removed from the jumplist of ACC methods.
If this motherboard was made for FX series in mind why it claims support for unlocking cores?

Hi

I think from what I have seen here on the forum in the past that Gigabyte requires a higher threshold to enable the unlocking of extra cores compared to some other motherboard manufacturers. Whether this is good or not depends on your standpoint I guess. If you go back through some of the similar threads in the past you will see what I mean.
