Approximate time for me to receive my RMA’d Motherboard?
« on: December 15, 2011, 05:43:47 pm »
Product MB-155-GI on RMA212475

Last week I sent my EX58-UD5 motherboard back to Overclockers UK as I found out after purchasing a further 6GB of RAM that one of my slots was not working due to a damaged pin. I received an email from them the next day (the day they would have received the package) stating that they were going to send it back to the manufacturers for repair or replacement.

Speaking to an Overclockers representative for a second time (I spoke to them before I sent it out) to confirm how long it would take to get the replacement board, I was told it should be no later than the middle of next (this) week. Because of this statement, I sent out the motherboard as at the time I did not have any major work commitments using the computer. However upon receiving an email from a client today, I have found out that a large job I was expecting to do after New Years has been pushed forward to next week.

I have tried to find online a telephone number for GIGABYTE UK to find out when I may receive my motherboard, but I have been unable to find one. I would be most grateful to any moderator on this site for any help on this matter, as I am now worried that as we are nearing Christmas, it may take even longer to come. Not to mention that annoyingly I am now on quite a tight schedule and my client makes Ebenezer Scrooge look like Santa Claus...

Hi

I have forwarded your question to our RMA dept. Please await their reply by email.
It would be good to know full SN of your MB as the RMA no. you provided is not ours but Overclockers UK number
ZX-S & C64 are still my favourites ;-)

Thank you for your speedy response.

Stupidly I completely forgot to write down the serial number in my haste to send the motherboard off.

Not that it would be much help, but the faulty slot in question is the one furthest to the CPU (white coloured). From what I was told by a friend who works with computers is that the board would probably have to be replaced as we both noticed under close inspection that the pin appeared to be burnt which he believed to have happened either on manufacture or testing before I received the computer.

Hi

In such situation, without the SN, it impossible to trace it in our RMA system / center. If you want us to find your MB and tell you estimated return time then please contact OC UK as they must have noted this number during their internal RMA process and requesting RMA from us.
The proper, full SN number which is used for our RMA purposes consists from EAN code followed by SN, for example:
4719331852092SN102703129238

We always try to fix first. I can predict that in this case it will be repair if only 1 pin from memory slot is damaged/burnt out.

This morning I received an email from your RMA Team stating that there was not much they could do unless I had the RMA number which your company had sent to Overclockers UK and was advised to contact Overclockers to find out what it was and then to contact you back.

Unfortunately after having just come off the phone just now from them and speaking to probably the rudest and the most uncaring person who I have ever had the misfortune of speaking to (and this is coming from someone who works in the film industry...); I had the impertinence of being told that he could not give me the number and that the motherboard 'probably' might not have even been sent to you yet (even though I stated several times that I had received a confirmation letter last week saying that it had).

After trying to politely tell him of my situation, I was told bluntly that it was then my fault for sending it in the first place and I should therefore purchase or borrow a lower spec motherboard in order to do my work.

I can now only hope that as your email states, that if the item can be fixed there may be the chance of receiving the item next week or if it has to be replaced I’ll have to wait till anything up to the 12th January.

Well well well, wonders never cease. I've just got off the phone from Overclockers UK, and the person who I spoke to could not have been more helpful and actually went out of his way to find my SN/RMA in no more than five minutes, where as the person previously had said it was impossible.

The number is: 4719331843205SN09400020570

If any moderator here could help me to find out when my/a motherboard should be returned back to me, I would be most grateful to them.

Hi

Moderators are not able to check it. It is internal case of Gigabyte UK RMA dept. therefore please provide this SN as the reply to the email you received from our RMA dept. (returns@gbt-tech.co.uk) last Friday morning. Thanks
P.S. Have you received information from OC UK that they sent the item to us already? If yes then it would be great to know our RMA number too.

It would be good if you could buy direct from Gigabyte UK as an alternative option to retail stores.....especially with the new revisions pending.

Hi runn3R,

Yes....more's the pity....going by the aftersales service you provide if Gigabyte UK did sell to end users I'm sure the service would be 1st class also.

Thanks for your replies. I can't believe they gave me the wrong one as I stated to them several times that I primarily wanted the RMA number sent to them by your RMA department. I'll phone them again and try and see if they can supply me with your RMA number which I'll forward on to the RMA department along with the one that they have just given me. Hopefully I may get the same person that I spoke to yesterday.

They sent me an email last week - my apologies two weeks ago - stating that they had sent the motherboard off to you; however they did not put in any new RMA code, other than the one I originally sent to you (212475).

Please find below the email in question from Overclockers UK:

The product MB-155-GI on RMA212475 has been sent back to manufacturer for repair or replacement. It will be returned to you as soon as we receive it.

Further email confirmation will be sent when the item is returned to you.

Regards,

Hi k810,

You would be better off informing runn3r about this, I'm just a forum member like you not a Gigabyte UK employee.

You probably just have!!!! :)

Just a quick note to say that I have just got off the phone from Overclockers (luckily I spoke to the person I spoke to yesterday), and he managed to give me the RMA number: REF11C09033 which was given to them by your RMA Department; who I'm going to write an email to right now.

Thanks for your reply Dark Mantis, if I were to get it back before Christmas I would be much relieved as I have also been given the good news only a few minutes ago that the job deadline is now possibly early next week (but that will also means I will be having to work non stop over Christmas  :(  ).

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll send him a quick letter now.
