GA-EX58-UD5 -can't install the o/s (reboot loops)
« on: October 29, 2009, 12:08:09 am »
Hello, wonder if anyone can help with my problem, specs below: -

    * GA-EX58-UD5 rev 1.0 firmware F7
    * i920 S1366
    * Sapphire HD4770
    * Corsair 6GB 1600 mhz DDR3 CL8 (installed in the correct slots for 3 channels, read manual properly)
    * WD Caviar 1TB S300 SATA

Everything seemed fine until I tried to install Windows 7. "FF" appears on the mboard, hard disk appears in Standard cmos settings. The beginning of Windows 7 installation takes forever - long periods of inactivity before anything happens. Eventually it expands the files, and does a reboot. From there, it goes as far as the Windows logo with "Updating registry" below that - then it reboots again. After the reboot it goes to the "Start in safe mode... etc" menu, doesn't matter what I choose here it just keeps rebooting.
Cheers,
Thanks for any advice

Yes i am having the same problem with the extreme board.  basic default settings.

i have made a kind of break thru though. i changed some of the 'advance CPU settings' in the bios
Disabled 'All cores'  and only used 1
Disable Virtualisation technology
Disable 'intel turbo boost'

after doing this i was able to completely install windows 7
Windows Experience index gives a low score.
so i went back to the bios and change the cpu settings back
the system would still boot, but would crash during the windows experience index test
at the CPU performance...  ???

so will focus on the CPU settings.
have not tried raid yet but will see how i go.
