880GM-UD2H, want to enable hybrid crossfire, PLS HELP
« on: February 11, 2011, 06:56:58 am »
I ASSEMBLED A PC USING THE MOTHERBOARD 880GM-UD2H WITH THE RADEON 4250 GRAPHICS...AFTER INSTALLING ALL THE DRIVERS FOR THE CHIPSET AND ONBOARD VGA, THE CROSSFIRE ENABLE/DISABLE OPTION UNDER THE GRAPHICS MENU OF THE CATALYST CONTROL CENTER IS MISSING...I TRIED ANOTHER DRIVER FOR THE ONBOARD VGA (VER 10.4) BUT THE OPTION IS STILL MISSING...

CAN ANYBODY HELP ME....MY DISCRETE VIDEO CARD IS  POWERCOLOR HD 5670 AND I KNOW (ACCORDING TO INFOS ON THE WEBSITE OF THE MANUFACTURERS) THAT THIS BOARD AND CARD SUPPORT HYBRID CROSSFIRE TECHNOLOGY

ON THE MANUAL OF THE BOARD, IT SAYS I SHOULD DISABLE THE CROSSFIRE FUNCTION FIRST ON THE OPERATING SYSTEM, BUT MY PROBLEM IS I DONT KNOW WHERE TO DISABLE IT....MY OPERATING SYSTEM IS WINDOWS 7 64BIT

PLS, I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP GUYS

PS, MY PROCESSOR IS THE AMD PHENOM 2 X4 955 BLACK EDITION, AND MY RAM SIZE IS 4GIG

GUYS, DO YOU THINK I SHOULD INSTALL A NEW VERSION OF THE CHIPSET DRIVER?....I USED THE DRIVER WHICH COMES IN THE BOX, THE ONLY DRIVER I DOWNLOADED IS THE ONBOARD VGA DRIVER VERSION 10.4 AND NOT THE CHIPSET DRIVER

BY THE WAY, MY BOARD IS 880GM-UD2H REV 1.4

I REALLY WOULD APPRECIATE ANY SUGGESTION

THANKS GUYS

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte forum.

My first suggestion would be to stop shouting!! (turn off caps lock)

Always use the newest driver version available from the website as they have fixed bugs etc.

youshould be  aware that you must in effect enable it in bios first .
1. Plug the display cable into the PCIe x16 graphics card
2. In BIOS Setup, set "Surround View" to "Enabled" and set "Init Display First" to "PEG"
3. Save and exit .

above 1,2,3, from gigabyte support .

Hi,

If you follow the steps outlined when you re-start your PC, if you have already installed the ATI drivers, you should find that it will automatically default to Crossfire Mode. If it hasn't you should find the option under the Catalyst Control Centre.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

sir, first, thank you for replying...

my problem is this, sir, after installing all the drivers, the CROSSFIRE option doesn't appear under the GRAPHICS menu or anywhere else in the CCC (catalyst control center)....if what you say that when I restart my pc it will automatically default to crossfire is accurate, how can i know that crossfire is already running?....i tried finding out whether crossfire is already running but i cannot find it in the CCC

i tried to contact gigabyte via the technical support about this but i've not gotten any reply yet...so for now, i'm just using my discrete graphics card until i find the right answer to my problem

I can assure you that the HD 5670 is not a Hybrid CrossFireX compatible video card. The HD 5450 is the video card for Hybrid CrossFireX. It is a very inexpensive card. Please refer to the your specific Gigabyte motherboard web page and read the FAQ.

Hybrid CrossFireX combines two slow graphics products for a not-so-slow graphic solution. Your solo HD 5670 is a better than Hybrid CrossFireX.

Your PowerColor HD 5670 supports ATI CrossFireX technology, which is something different than Hybrid CrossFireX.

Yes I found all this very confusing at first as with all the advertising hype I was under the impression that it would work with any AMD card. It was only later that I discovered the limitations of it.

Thanks Tiger,
One of the big problems with Hybrid Crossfire is the difficulty in tracking down compatible Graphics cards and, as Dark Mantis states, the advertising doesn't make it very clear sometimes.

I hybrid crossfired my 890gpa and HIS HD 5770.
works fine.

watch this : http://www.youtube.com/embed/8IFNiBEijWM

This tells you the only version of AMD center that actaully works is 11.5.  I have tried later version such as 11.10 ,  11.12, does not work.
