SLI or CROSS FIRE set up Question
« on: December 28, 2011, 10:17:55 am »
Hello all, and thank you if any body can help me out here :)

I have a Gigabyte P55A-UD3 mother board in my PC , recently I bought two used NVIDIA  GT 8800 Graphics Cards. What I would like to find out if my mother board supports both cards. I mean if I try to bridge them together to improve my pc's performance, would it work or not?

Thanks a lot!

That boards chipset is for crossfire applications. You can run 1 8800gt without issues but 2 would likely present problems.
2 AMD cards would fare better.  also, you have a x16 and a x4 lane for crossfire. The x4 would not be very useful.

X16/x16 or x8/x8 is preferable.

Here's a link for more info on your board.    http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3439#sp

Hey thanks a lot for the info and suggestions. I guess I won't bother about the second video card. I had no idea  about certain details that you mentioned.

Thanks.
