gtx 285 crashes with forceware drivers 2xx.xx
« on: December 28, 2011, 10:35:20 am »
Using 2xx.xx drivers, after 5-120min of playing games (or using unity/udk) the game freeze frame and pc crashes, gotta do a hard reboot.
Sound keeps playing though.

This doesn't happen with 1xx.xx series drivers (e.g. 190.62), I can play for hours and they don't crash.

I tried NVidia forums but they weren't helpful at all, I'm hoping maybe one of the experts here can help and maybe suggest why this happens.
The card is rock solid even after 2 years, plays the latest games very well, I like this card and want to keep it for another 1-2 years at least.

Recorded temps at crashes range from 70-80c, hot but not too hot (I run games fine with 90c+ on old drivers)
Specs - Gigabyte gtx 285, vista 64bit, Intel core 2 Q9550
