Yes, reading the specification, your CPU is compatible with the 1155 socket.

Yes the 1156 and 1155 sockets are physically the same size and so no problem. If a heatsink is made to fit an 1156 motherboard it will fit the newer 1155 motherboards too with no adapter.

To be fair these platforms run fairly cool anyway and any decent heatsink/fan will cope with most any but the highest overclock. Something like the Noctua NH-D14 or similar will not get into a sweat running it.  ;)

in a word no.

You are in a similar position that I was in a while back and I found that in my case, apart from the motherboard and CPU everything was interchangeable, but I already had the Corsair RAM running on my AMD rig which you do not, hence the slightly extra cost for you in this area.

Hi thanks TheFriend, Dark Mantis and absic for all the help slight set back wifes phone died so have to try not to look dissapointed about using some of upgrade money to keep the peace and  buy her  a new one but hopefully start the new build next month, talk to you all soon on the Intel site.

Yes, those 1100ts have rocketed up in price here in Japan, too. I couldn't believe it! I suppose that is an indicator of the lamentable quality of AMD's FX chips. Looks like I got lucky with my 1065t.


I agree that Intel is the only game in town if one is looking to upgrade now.
