Gigabyte Z77 G1 Sniper M3 Matx

Hello Gigabyte team and hello to all on the forums. My names Paul and I go by the nick paulie or pablo :)

As you can probably guess I'm new to the forums but I wanted to register to try and put my own view accross about the forth coming 1155 board the using the Z77 chipset the Sniper M3 Matx that has been showcased on Tweaktown from CES.

First off i just would like to say, I can't %^&*ing wait for this board to come out!!!!11

I know the board is not finished yet and won't be out for good few months yet but it is so good to see an alternative performance matx board for 1155 socket. The 3 PIC-E slots and 1 PCIe x1 is a great combination imo for a matx, i know some will prefer to have a pci but hopefully you'll be able to include some of the key features like the onboard supreme fx hardware and the killer NIC chipset. Will be interesting to see if it all fits.

I like the colour scheme you've chosen for this range but I pray you DONT decide to replace functional heatsinks with mock toy guns.

The world will be a better place the more choice we have with performance orientated matx boards :)

Hi and welcome Paul.

Hopefully you will enjoy the forum and we will see plenty more of you especiallly if you can help the other members.

I agree about the board. In fact there are several nice newly designed boards due shortly and like you I can't wait. Originally I was looking forward to the 2011 X79 range but one way or another they didn't meet my expectations.

I've recently read that the board will have sli/crossfire available using pcie slots 1 and 4, can anyone confirm this is true or are you not allowed to talk about it yet due to NDA?

The boards are still unreleased so far and have been put back by Intel as they have put off release of their IvyBridge chips for a few weeks. I am sure that the Z77 boards will have full Crossfire/SLI support.

sorry I didnt word that very well, I meant to ask about the pcie lanes configuration on the board and not whether it supports sli.

I read that the 1st pcie slot will be x16 and is wired directly to the z77 chip, 2nd slot is just a pcie x1 qired to the pch contorller?, the next two are the ones I'm most interested in as I've read the 3rd slot is only a x4 pcie lane and is wired also to the PCH controller and the 4th slot is the pcie x8 lane wired to the z77 chip, so it would be 1st and 4th slots (x8, x8) for sli and crossfire

I think this is the board that you are enquiring about and as such it is not released officially yet as far as I am aware.

very close, its the smaller version of the board in your links

http://vr-zone.com/articles/gigabyte-shrinks-the-g1.sniper-series-to-matx-with-the-m3/15101.html

They've posted a pick of pcie layout as well

http://limages.vr-zone.net/body/15101/g1_sniper_m3_2.jpg.jpeg

I'm quite dissppointed GB would design the board this way as it makes sli crossfire impossible unless your using a full size atx case as there are no matx cases that have 5 pcie slots

I can only hope this isnt the final design and some big changes are made before the final release

As far as I know this isn't the final version of the board but that also doesn't mean that there will be any major changes in design either. I would just say that we will have to wait and see before making rash judgements. ;)
