need help with z68x-ud3h-b3

when i plug in my memory, the bios is recognizing it as 1333mhz and not 1600mhz. If i leave it set at 1333, the OCZ Agility 3 ssd 90gig drive boots faster and scores much better with ATTO. The write speeds are half of what they are if I set it to 1600, but read speeds are still above 500mb. I've also noticed that the ssd seems to work much better using the marvell chipset and not the intel. Any reason for that?

My Setup:

Kingston Technology HyperX 16 GB Kit (4x4 GB Modules) 16 Quad Channel Kit 1600 (PC3 12800) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM KHX1600C9D3K4/16GX
Intel 2600k

  Weeeeeeeeird .....But that's computers phiniac

The memory posting as 1333 is correct ,...this is the JEDEC ( open industry standards ) that the board was manufactured too ..... even though the memory is rated and sold as 1600 ..... as the standards go ..... anything above 1333mhz is over-clocking for this platform.

I suspect you are using XMP profiles to get to 1600 ..... try imputing the memory parameters manually in the BIOS ...this may well see a different result with ATTO .... also check you have the very latest driver for the Intel controller, if it's performing so slow compared to the Marvell ports ..... us Gigabyte support portal for the latest drivers for your board.

I've also noticed that the ssd seems to work much better using the marvell chipset

Z68 platforms have supposed to have sorted the problems associated with the Marvell controller over past board numbers .... (X58) but it should not be this far ahead over the ICH10R .... it sounds like it's running at SATA2 speeds....have you got it configured correctly and the correct port used ?
