Load 'Fail Safe' vs 'Optimized' Defaults
« on: January 17, 2012, 11:42:43 pm »
On a Gigabyte Z68 motherboard, what exactly is the difference between the 'Fail Safe' and 'Optimized' defaults? Which should I use for a non-overclocking machine?

Hi Oubadah, ;)

Welcome to forum

Just make attention do not multiplier a Topic ...
Like for this questions...

So Load fail Safe is a situation when the Bios are activated minimal performance parameters operation.
He is util when the system is instable and for search origine of problem (drivers or hardware)...

Load optimized Defaults when the Bios are activated many more parameters for optimal performance.

Sorry, that was a mistake. I thought the page had hung, and my thread wasn't posted, but then I realized I was in a different sub-forum.

So fail safe is only for troubleshooting?

Hi Oubadah,  ;)

Normaly yes, but if you have need this ''fail safe parameters'' why not...
It depends on your problematic situation ... or perhaps to some specific tests

EDIT01: By exemple, if you put a Device in PCI port or any other ports... and you have a problem ... for boot.
Maybe the device is faulty...

Check manualy your Bios after make a choice.. just for view a differences...

Do not forgot make IN Main page BIOS, a CTRL+F1 .. for see a Hidden function or parameters in BIOS....

I can only see one difference:

PnP/PCI Config: PCI Latency timer (CLK) (32) menu.

Is there anything else that should show up with CTRL+F1?

Hi again,  ;)

With Bios in fail safe parameters ?

If yes, this is possible with ''Fail safe Bios''...
But If you try Optimized Defaults... is very differents...

Gloup_Gloup

Was with optimized defaults. I went trough the whole BIOS, and the only other difference apart from  'PCI Latency timer' was 'spread spectrum'.

Hi

Gloup_Gloup has quite well answered your question I think in that the Optimised BIOS Defaults are what most users should be loading as a base and then tweaking to suit their own system from there.
