z68x-ud3p-b3 doesn't power up

Hi I need some help , I just bought a gigabite motherboard z68x and an i5 2500k procesor ,I monted the procesor into the motherboard and put all the cables and pushed the power buttond but it seems it doesnt want to power on.
WHAT SHOULD i DO?
It seems that the board doesn;t recieve power or something i done wrong.

Is the power supply plugged in the wall?

Is the rocker switch on your power supply in the on position?

Hi

From the sound of things you have only installed the CPU. To tell if it is even POSTing you will need to put a buzzer on the mainboard. Also add at least one stick of memory in the first slot.

A few more details would help us to help you.

Additionally, ensure your case's power button jumper is installed onto the motherboard correctly.

While you are there, ensure the CLR_CMOS (or something similar) is in its default position (not clearing CMOS).

I done everything correctly. I tested the psu it is working , I switched rams , I put my videocard and my hdd but wheon I press the power switch on the backof the power supply there is a fraction of a second of power in the motherboard and the leds from my videocard are on for that time, afther that is just dead.the motherboard and the cpu are new and I dont think is the cpu.

Assuming you are also pressing the power switch on the front panel at the same time as the PSU switch I would say it sounds to me like you might have a short to earth somewhere. First remove all the connectors on the motherboard attached to the front panel. Then try again to boot.

The next thing is to remove the motherboard from the case and test it on the workbench.

Make sure that you observe anti-static precautions.

Lay some cardboard or use the motherboard box that is non-conductive on the worktop and remove the motherboard/CPU/heatsink/fan/buzzer/one stick of memory/graphics card and PSU from the case and put it on the cardboard. Add the keyboard and mouse and try and boot. The system should try and make a beep or series of beeps. Please post what sounds it makes.

When you say that you have done that do yoiu mean that you have removed the motherboard etc from the case and tried it ?

If so we need to check the pins in the CPU socket. Please follow these instructions exactly!

Take all the usual anti-static precautions.

Very carefully remove the heatsink and fan. Probably a slight twisting motion is best to release the two as the thermal paste can act like a glue.

Once off remove the CPU taking extreme care both physically and electrically(static) and place somewhere safe.

Make sure that the lighting is very good and even.

Now scrutinise the socket for any pins that are out of alignment, even slightly.
Take a couple of macro (close up) photos of the socket and post them on here for us to check.

Also look at the bottom of the CPU at the lands (little copper circles) and make sure that there is a mark in each somewhere near the centre.
If there are any missing marks or any of the pins are obviously bent then that is your problem.

Before refitting the CPU clean off all residue of the old thermal paste and the same on the heatsink and then apply a small amount (about the size of a grain of rice) to the centre of the CPU once it is inserted in the socket.

How did you test the PSU?

hi , I've checked the pins on the motherboard and I didn't see any one of them to be bend or not in the right place, the psu i tested like in this video    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FWXgQSokF4   
The marks on the CPU are in th right place I think I am going to send the motheerboard back.

That tests whether the PSU actually turns on, not whether it is good or not.

While running that test, check pin 8 (grey wire) with a voltmeter; +5V means the PSU Power_Good passed; 0v means it failed.  Again, this doesn't fully test the PSU; it just eliminates it as being completely broken.  Any power source can only be properly tested under load (why you can measure a AA battery at 1.5v but when you use it, it's dead).

Does it power on (and remain on) with nothing plugged in except the motherboard and CPU?  (no video, no memory, no drives, nothing else)  If so, add components one at a time and check.  You don't want to RMA a board if your HDD is broken.

 I monted the psu to my old sistem and it is working properly , amd pnenom II x4 920 CPU , m3nh/hdmi motherboard, 8G of ddr2 , and an asus 560 ti.
So I think the psu is ok.
I can't belive that a new motherboard should short circuit like this one.

 Have you tried clearing the CMOS?  If not please try clearing the CMOS as it may help.

Also, what power supply are you using?  And are you sure you are connecting the power supply 4 or 8 pin cable to the motherboard not the 8 pin graphics cable?  Some power supplies the 8 pin graphics cable will fit into the 8 pin CPU motherboard slot, and that will not work and could cause damage, so be sure you are using the right cable.
