Gigabyte shipped driver older than Nvidia driver

Gigabyte shipped driver older than Nvidia driver
« on: January 31, 2012, 10:21:22 pm »
I have purchased a Gigabyte GV-N560OC-1GI which came with the 266.44 driver dated 27/01/2011, however the most recent driver for the 500 series on Nvidia's website is 285.62 dated 24/10/2011. OS is Win 7 X64.

Can I use the latest Nvidia drivers, as the current driver available on the Gigabyte website is still 266.44?

Thanks.

Hi M.

Yes I would get the updated drivers as the ones that come with the cd are always out of date ( well almost).

Same as with my AMD I had to update the drivers on it.

Just make sure that you have the proper drivers for the board & OS, also uninstall any old drivers first, unless the program does this automatically as mine does plus ask's to reboot the computer.

Ben.

Sound advice given... ;) .... you can't expect the suppliers to open a box just before delivery to update the driver .... this would break the security seal for starters.

Yes thanks, I appreciate that shipped drivers are always out of date.

I wanted to make sure that the Nvidia drivers are onevI should use and that Gigabyte do not release their own updates.

Many thanks for the replies.

Yes you are safe using the Nvidia drivers as opposed to the Gigabyte supplied drivers. Basically they are the same and as has been already pointed out the included drivers on the disk are always out of date and so it's best to use the online ones anyway.
