GA-H55N-USB3 problems with USB3
« on: February 09, 2012, 09:21:42 am »
Hi, I purchased one of these motherboards about 1 year ago. It works pretty well until I needed to use the USB3 ports. The thing is, when I putmy external driver with USB3 (I installed the USB3 drivers) it just stops working after some time. I tried several times bu formatting the whole computer and using other distributions of windows and it never worked properly. Is this a common problem with this board?

regards

Are you using the latest BIOS for the motherboard, and the latest USB3 drivers?  If not please update them, you can get them here

thanks for the reply.
I am quite sure that I installed the latest USB3 drivers correctly already but I have not installed the new BIOS. I have quite bad experiences while doing this with other motherboards. Do you think is worth the risk? or got any idea where I can find some nice step by step explanation on how to do it safely?

thanks!

Updating the BIOS is very easy!   I suggest you use a USB stick, and Qflash, I wrote a guide on it here
http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/27576-bios-flashing-how-qflash-guide.html

Don't mind the warnings, it's just fine print that has to be there, you should be fine as long as you follow the directions and don't flash during a storm or shut off your computer mid-way through the flash.
