Question about performance of P67A-D3-B3

Hello everyone,
I would like some views regarding a matter of performance:
Last month i "upgraded" from an INTEL m/b (DP55WB) and i7-860 (s.1155) to P67A-D3-B3 and i5-2500 (s.1156).
VGA card was not changed (ATI Vapor-X 5770), HDDs remained the same and RAM was increased from 6GB to 8GB.
I am running Windows 7 ultimate.
Running WSAT all other scores were similar with the exception of VGA performance: the old configuration had a score of 7.4 at both Desktop and Gaming graphics and the new configuration got a score of 6.0 at both graphics sections.
I have upgraded BIOS to the latest version with no effect on score.
Having read that my old and new CPUs are roughly of the same performance level, what part should I check that would explain that big drop (almost 20%) in graphics performance?

  Hi and welcome edou123

  Latest VGA package would be a good starting point if you have not done so ..... also the Windows based Index score is viewed as vague at best.

  Look at alternatives to bench the graphic performance to get some hard figures and post back with the numbers and app.

Thx for the welcome and the quick reply Allan.
Ofc the VGA driver is already updated to the latest version...
I also am aware that Windows benches are not to be taken literally but I am talking comparatively here and the drop is well beyond the margins of the statistical error.
Anyway, I 'll try to get some benches with the likes of 3DMark and get back to posting

Assuming that by WSAT you are meaning the WEI (Windows Experience Index) then I am very surprised that you originally got a score of anywhere near 7.4 for that medium performance graphics card.  I would have thought that the score that you are getting now would be much more realistic. The 5770 is nowhere near a top end card and even the 5870 cards would have been pushed to get much more than 7.4

I agree there!   I have a 4870x2 in use right now and it only scores 6.0 in both graphics, and it's way better than a 5770.

Not that the WSAT scores are really relevant when you are considering performance, although they do utilize benchmarks they are more designed solely for windows to be able to suggest to you what software and games (From Microsoft) your system is capable of running.

Yes it is a bit of a joke really. I mean you can have four velociraptors in a RAID0 array and it will give the same 5.9 score as a single 7200 hard drive. It is faulty on so many counts.
