GA-78LMT-S2P REV 4.0 BIOS UPDATE?
« on: March 04, 2012, 11:05:07 pm »
Hi, I've just bought an FX CPU and the GA-78LMT-S2P motherboard and I'm having problems with certain games on Steam. The main game I play is Shogun 2 and after a quick search on the net it seems there's an issue with the FX processors and this game that can only be fixed with a motherboard update.

I've updated to the latest there is (FC) and this hasn't fixed it so I was wondering if/when there will be an update to this BIOS to help with the problem. Somebody on another forum mentioned a beta BIOS? Is there one, if so is there anywhere I can download it to try it? They said they had some luck with this BIOS but never replied when I asked where they got it.

Thanks for your time.

I'm a little worried about this. No update has been released for the BIOS on this board since Dec last year and no word from anyone I contact as to whether one is on the way. With me just buying the board I'd rather return it sooner rather than later for a replacement if I can't get things working. Please if anyone knows of a fix for this (modified BIOS?) can they let me know. I've searched everywhere and can't find anything.

There is a modified bios but as gigabyte didnt release it is not somwthing we post links to. Using a modified bios ruins the warranty on board best bet is to email gigabyte. If they email back and say they are not coming out with one then there is your answer. Here is another thread like 7 below yours with the same question.

Yeah, same question different boards though. I didn't want to hijack another persons thread. :)

I've emailed gigabyte and awaiting response. I know they can be slow so it's just a matter of waiting now. IF they do say they won't be updating it, would you be able to help me find the modified BIOS for my board? I've found them for others, not mine. Thanks.

Took me all of 10 seconds to find it for your board BUT i cant post it. This is a gigabyte forum and i am not going to be the one to ruin someone elses board.

I managed to find a modified BIOS for the board but that is for a SLIC mod, which I think is to activate windows 7 and not to fix the issue I'm having. It's the only one I can find. Still waiting on Gigabyte for a response.

Quite correct attitude autotech, I would take the same stance. That is what GGTS is there for. They will answer even if it does take a while.

Well got a response from them and it was perfect! They sent me the FDa (Alpha) version of the new BIOS update. Tried it and works spot on. Also increased performance of other games that did run. Thanks for the help.

Hello. I am facing the exact same problem, but after i contacted Gibabyte suppot, they send me some vague info like, check the memory modules or if the windows is genuine. The blue screen "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval" is well known all over the internet, even AMD posted a messege on their website recommanding to ask our motherboard manufacturer for the latest beta bios. Could someone provide me the FDa version?

I've sent it to you by email Murasaki. The reason I never posted the BIOS is that I don't know if Gigabyte would be happy with me handing out an Alpha BIOS. If anyone else wants it though I'm willing to pass it on. It helped me so it should help others but don't quote me on that. :)

Thanks all.

I'm getting a lot of people emailing me for the BIOS file they sent me, which I don't mind but rather have them mess about and email me I'll post a download to the file here if that's OK, saves them time. :) I'm not saying this file is 100% OK, it is an alpha but it worked for me and so far nobody that has asked for the file has come back at me screaming blue murder because something has gone wrong. So in the words of all manufacturers, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I used the @BIOS utility on the Gigabyte site and told it to use a file on the disc rather than online.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/3l5z83

It's totally safe and virus free, I would never do that to anyone. Good luck!
