assasin2 dual bios

after reading the instructions on flashing the bios i disabled Hyper Threading in the bios and now that bios will not boot my PC  i have to boot off the other bios, how do i get back into the bios i disabled Hyper Threading in and why will the PC not boot after i've done what was asked of me (disabling Hyper threading to flash the bios) any help would be greatly appreciated in helping me solve this issue my bios is on ver  F4 and i would like to flash it to F7

Hi and welcome.

I don't remember anywhere that it says to disable Hyperthreading in the BIOS. Perhaps you can link me to it please.

The thing is that you are booting off the ain BIOS as you cannot boot from the Backup BIOS chip. What happens is that the Main chip realises that it is corrupt and the Backup BIOS then rewrites the Main BIOS from the Backup and boots from there.

How did you corrupt the Main BIOS in the first place ? Did you try and update via the @BIOS program ? Please use the QFlash utility as it is much safer in future.

I haven't had the chance to flash the bios because the PC would not boot so i pressed the bios button in the back and it booted from that bios at that point i stopped everything the only thing i did in the bios was disable hyper threading.

Ah, thanks. That is because you were using the @BIOS program as I suspected.  The problem being that it runs on top of the OS and so is much more prone to problems which is the last thing you need when flashing the BIOS.

thanks i guess i will take your advice,  when i tried to flash i noticed it would say that it does not support 64 bit system, i should have known after i got that message that i was doomed to fail. i will take your advice and use the qflash utility. if i clear the cmos that should bring everything back to stock and after that i would proceed to reflash the bios using qflash?

i still don't understand how disabling intel HT® in the bios makes the system unstable.

No problem!

If you use QFlash yopu don't need to worry about disabling HT first. Just download the BIOS files onto a pendrive and unzip them.  Next we will clear the CMOS to give you a clean start.

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery overnight before replacing it.
 
Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.
 
You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Optimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.

Assuming you need to still reflash the BIOS you can post back tomorrow and we will take it from there.

Hi again cleared the CMOS waited a couple hours then i flashed the bios with success, one more question if you don't mind concerning the creative® sound chip that comes with the assasin2, when i look in the device manager under sound and video game settings  all i see is "high definition audio device" i see no mention of there being anything creative® in the device manager, i have installed the latest drivers mb_driver_audio_creative_x79 and see no creative software either, is this normal? i don't think it is there should be some mention of it, is there something in the bios that i would need to enable?

Good news so far anyway!

The audio is fairly standard stuff and the same as I have on my board but since I don't have the same motherboard as you I can't say if it is correct or not. If you go into Control Panel and then the Audio part does everything work properly ? Is there any mention of Creative  anywhere there ?

What you are looking for may be in the  Sound, Games, and Video section, or it may not be in the device manager at all.  Instead you may find in in the start menu all programs, or in the control panel.

Azalia must be enabled in the BIOS, but it looks like you already have that enabled.

Thanks for the comments but it seems that i am a stooge i was letting windows decompress the files for the Creative™ audio drivers and software, i just realized this and downloaded winrar and all my problems are solved, the Creative™ onboard sound chip is now showing up in the device manager and all the software has installed correctly, after a few hiccups on my part i have to say this g1.assasin 2 motherboard is getting sweeter and sweeter.
