GA-A75M-UD2H - Memory issues
« on: April 13, 2012, 06:28:07 pm »
Hi,

I have just purchased and installed the GA-A75M-UD2H with an AMD A8-3870K FM1 3.0GHz 4MB 100W Black Edition processor and Corsair Memory 8GB (2 x 4GB) Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz DIMM 240-pin CL9 Low Profile memory (MFR # CML8GX3M2A1600C9 ).

All seemed to work fine until I started using Winrar and quickpar. I have been having errors with both programs but my laptop will unrar or repair with quickpar so I know the files are fine.

I have used memtest with the two sticks which come up automatically at DDR1300mhz in the BIOS and get all sorts of error messages. If I take one stick out it works fine but obviously it only works in single channel mode. If I try the other chip it again comes up with no error messages but reports the speed as DDR 800 when automatically detected.

I have updated to the latest BIOS (F5) but no solution.

Is it the memory that is faulty or is it the settings in the BIOS I am not setting up correctly.

Thanks

AR

Try to set them manually. Set 1600mhz and timings as they are listed @ Corsair site. Check if the memory voltage is set propertly.
Also make sure they are set to 2T...
If this doesnt help check if the modules arent overheating

Thanks for your reply.

I have set them manually and they were the same settings as suggested by Corsair.

As regards to overheating how would I know if they are?

Unless you are grossly overclocking (which you aren't as you are only on 1600mhz) it is very unlikely that the memory will overheat. Just make sure that you have adequate cooling in the case.

Did you clear the CMOS after flashing the BIOS?  Then did you try loading system defaults from within BIOS?

If so, try each stick by itself in each memory slot one by one and make sure they work fine.
