Phobya 24 pin PSU Extension Review

This item is from the well known manufacturer  Phobya and is aimed at saving  a lot of people the time and trouble of sleeving their own internal cables. In particular this extension cable of 30cm so also gives added length which can be extremely useful especially if one of the really big cases that are now on the market is used and some of the standard PSU cables are a bit on the short side.  It lengthens the main 24 pin cable from the PSU to the motherboard. Usually this is just a mass of cables that are unsleeved and terminate in a long and narrow male connector block which mates with the female version on the motherboard near the memory slots. Phobya have made this a real outstanding item in that each individual wire is sleeved seperately and so instead of a mass of wires bundled together looking a mess these are a delight to see. The cables are covered in bright red braiding that is UV reactive, of a very high quality and finished off with black heatshrink sleeving at each end.

This is just one of a variety of matching cables that can be used to make your system look more individual and like you have spent an awfully long time individually braiding each of your cables from the power supply. Phobya also manufacture a range of the UV lights that allow you to make the most of this items capabilities.

This is a nice easy way to add a bit of quality customisation look to your system and it is well made. I rate it as 8/10.

Quite true Pierre but some people haven't got the required skills anyway. Also if you wanted to sleeve each one individually for a custom project it would take a lot longer and much more work. But you are correct it all comes down to how much you are willing to pay. ;)

Ya,  sleeving aint easy.   My OCD causes me to sleeve every wire in my case.   I bought the 24 pin after doing every other wire i could,  the 24 pin im sad to say beat me.   Corsair has a wonderful idea with the presleeved kits they sell for their psu.

Looks good.

Certainly saves a lot of time and trouble for some people. I don't mind sleeving cables but it is time consuming and as you say the 24 pin has to be the worst of all. ;)
