Original P67A-UD7 and Ivy Bridge?

Hi

I bought a UD7 on launch date for Sandy Bridge (about 15 months ago now) and didn't switch to a B3 since that would have left me without a PC for some time. Will the original UD7 get a BIOS to support Ivy Bridge? Yes, it was replaced by a B3 model but not everyone has the opportunity to switch that without long RMA downtime.

The original P67A-UD7 was a very exclusive top end board, so I was curious as to whether it will get at least one BIOS update to bring it in line with Ivy Bridge chips, regardless of the Intel chipset SATA issue (which doesn't affect users using the SATA-3 plugs anyway).

Hi and welcome.

So you have the original motherboard that was unaltered and still has the Cougar Point chipset installed ? If that is right then I would say that the chances are that although physically the board would support IvyBridge without a BIOS upgrade it will be no go. I would suspect that as most of the motherboards have been freely swapped out now Gigabyte won't issue any BIOSes for this board.

I would suggest contacting GGTS and see if they can let you have a customised BIOS to do the job instead.  Ask nicely here  :

Hi Roke,

let me know if you want to reflash your UD7(B2) to UD7-B3 BIOS,which will support  Ivy.
I just retired my UD7(B2) with UD7-B3 BIOS installed on,as using now Z77 board.

Thanks for that offer ex58 as I am sure that Roke will be pleased with that option.   It is genuine Roke and I can vouch for ex58.
