Poor SSD Scores On Atto Bench Mark Test On Z68X-UD4-B3
« on: April 03, 2012, 10:26:09 am »
Hi my name is Glenn
I bought an GA-Z68X-UD4-B3 gigabyte mother board as well as k2600 cpu also 16 gig of cosair vengeance ram and two hd 6950 ati 1 gig graphics cards Plus One GT 120 SSD hard drive. Ok i firstly hooked this ssd up to sata port 0 on the sata 3 connector but my bios was set to ide but it was the best score i evea had!!!. A friend of mine always buys a new computer at the same time as me with the  same specks so we can help each other through any problems. He bought a kingston hard drive instead of corsair like me. He found on the internet that ahci is the fastest type of configuration for the ssd format . Ok, so we both did a install with windows 7 64 bit all the lastest drivers from the gigabyte webb site also updated my bios to f 10 due to it had gone from beta to offical listing,"so newer the better"... but i dont think its the issue as it was at f10 with the ide install. Please advise me on how to set up the bios, so i can fix this problem. As I have returned the gt 120 under warrenty and bought a intel 520 because the reports were all good!! Plus they offer support tools which i give a thumbs up. I have posted a bench score showing the problem. If it helps, I have a thermal take 1200 watt power supply from my old unit no problems there. Thank You Glenn.

Hi

Have you started off with a Secure Erase just to make sure that the drive is in the best possible condition.

Make sure the drive is on the Intel SATA3 controller's port.

Only use SATA2 specified cabling. That is the ones that has the metal locking clips on it.

Turn off write caching on the drive.

Make sure that when you installed the BIOS it was done with QFlash and that the option to Keep DMI Data was disabled on the QFlash homepage.

Synchronise both BIOS chips so that they both have the same BIOS version aboard.

The power saving and sleep modes do cause a lot of problems with all sorts of things which is why I normally disable them as soon as I have finished sorting all the other settings.

Hopefully your SSD will work much better now and no more problems. ;)

Well that seems to have done the trick there for sure. As with everything once you know it seems so simple. ;)
