Overclocking problem with EasyTune 6 AMD
« on: April 25, 2012, 11:22:27 pm »
Greetings, Gigabyte fans, I have problems with Easy Tuner 6, the new version B11.1209.1 specifically for AMD. At the time I want to overclock my AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Editon, by multiplying, in the first instance the slider does not appear for the multiplier next to the stock frequency, just below Core Turbo option. When slide the bar,the frecuency not raise, just down. I had no problems before with the old version of Easy Tune it in my old phenom II X3 720. I upgraded to the latest version of BIOS f10b before had F7. Please Your clarification for the use of this utility, especially with the Phenom II X6 Black Editon. I need disable Cool and Quit and CBT? I've tried disabling and does not work. This problem is a BIOS issue or Easy Tune does not handle well the Phenom II X6?

The easiest way to do this is when you are in bios and you turned of koolnquiet leave it off. Next in your post you obviously didnt leave enough information for me to give you a clear answer. You didnt mention the motherboard model at all but at least i know your bios version.  Sarcasam there, anyway while in bios change the multiplyer to 17 which is 3.4 or to 18 which is 3.6 and hit f-10 to save and exit. That is a black edition processor so easier to do it that way. As long as your motherboard make and model supports it.Is good to follow the below information to avoid confusion.

Main Hardware Information:
CPU (Make / Model / FSB Speed / Voltages)
RAM (Make / Model / Memory Speed / Voltages / Number of Sticks)
Motherboard (Make / Model)
Video Card (Make / Model / Core Speed / Shader Speed / Memory Speed)
PSU (Make / Model / Max Wattage / Amperage)

Other Hardware Information :
Monitor
HDD/SSDs
Other PCI/PCI-X Cards
Optical Drives

Software Information:
Operating System :
Video Card Drivers in Use ( and tried ):
Motherboard Drivers Used:
Apps/Games causing issues ( and if they've been patched ):
All major components check 100% after thorough testing ( eg. Memory & Memtest86 ):
System clean of viruses / spyware etc:

Thank you Autotech for the quick answer, sorry for the confusion, but all information about the hardware is on the attach's pictures. The second one pictures But here the hardware details:
Mobo: GA-785GMT-UD2H Rev 1.1, Bios F10B Chipset  AMD 785G
CPU  AMD phenom II X6 Black editon.
RAM, Corsair Vengace DDR3 1600
Video: Radeon HD 6850 MSI
Cooler Zalman 9700
Power supply 700 watts Ultra

If you see the first picture it present the all problem, The Multiplier Slide Bar not appear beside the stock clock speed, just below the turbo core option, I slide the bar and raise the multiplier to 18 from the stock value 16, and the frequency goes down to 2.4 GHz.

Why ??

cant answer why that version does that or it could be because it is a black edition processor and you can do it thru bios so need for that slider anyway. Is alot easier.

Ok i looked at your pictures and can answer you now. That slider is for locked processor and raises the FSB not the multiplier. I used to OC that way before i got a black edition. When you OC that way you also speed up the ram and northbridge. Creates alot more heat and you cant OC that far. BUT since you hace a black edition you can thru bios just raise the multiplier and oc just the processor. Creates less heat that way and you can actually get a faster processor speed doing it like that. Hope this helps.

Easy tune which i dont use with my BE processor same one you have isnt to reliable. One it doesnt OC anything till windows starts. @ on an earlier version of it it didnt work on my 1090t either so i dont use it anymore.

Tank you autotech for you dedicated answers, The Easy tune 6 old version, works fine with my old Phenom II X3 720, and orginal BIos F7. I decide update to 1090T CPU and BIos to 10b revison. Everything work fine, less the ET6. Gigabyte support tech said this a Bios Isue. What do you believe ?
Any i will use AMD overdrive software for OC.

I think they know what they are talking about. In all my years building and configuring software i learned that for no good reason what works one way with one version wont work in a different way. Alot of times you can google an workaround but with easytune it actually minuplates the bios.
Therefore it has to be easytune version or bios that is making it operate the way it is. I am sure gigabyte can come out with a bios version that will work   BUT  easytune could also come up with a different version that would make it work. So have patience one or the other will change and you can do it then but i love doing it myself directly thru bios is easier and gives me alot more control also it starts when the computer does i dont have to wait for windows to start and therefore the program to start.
