GA 8PE667 Ultra 2 / pro motherboard.
intel 82540em ethernet controller.
promise 20276 raid controller chip.
2 seagate st380021a barracuda ATA IV (80 Gig)

My preference would be performance, not necessarily data safety..

The questions I have are as follows..

I have read the promise 20276 RAID controller manual and GA 8PE667 Ultra 2 mobo

manual and have sucessfully created a RAiD 0 array across the pair. The problem I am having

is that when I try to reinstall XP os, I press F6 to specify device and load the driver for

the controller which I got from Giabyte website and, MBFASTTRACK133 LITE and SETUP comes

back with the error "file\winxp\fasttrak.sys caused an unexpected error (18) at line 2113 in

D:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c"

At the moment I am stuck with this??  There are two promise drivers listed in the

download, one is ATA 133 drivers and the other RAID. In the Raid folders there are two xp

drivers, one under the windows xp folder and one under WHQL 2KXP folder, where it "new

driver". I have tried both but get the same result.

having spent a considerable time researching this error on the net it seems it is

quite common?

Could anybody please offer me some help in finding a solution. Mostly I read "make

sure you get the right driver and then press F6"..

promise website doesn't seem to list the driver and states that it doesn't offer

support for on board promise raid controllers, refer to mobo manufacturer...

Gigabyte is where I downloaded the drivers from so that's not really helping..

** I have the jumpers on the drives both set to master.. as per the manual..(using fastbuild

to set up array I am only offered "performance" i.e. striped.. "security" i.e. mirrored is

not available? Thought this might be worth noting although I am not sure if it would create

a problem loading the driver???

cheers :-)
