IDE to AHCI?
« on: October 04, 2014, 07:46:40 pm »
Hi, I need help.  I recently updated my MOBO from an ASUS P6X58D Premium LGA 1366 to a Gigabyte GA-H87M-D3H  . and my new processor is an Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz LGA 1150 84W.  Using windows 7 64 bit
when I switch from IDE to AHCI my computer is so slow it barely runs.  IDE mode seems to work fine.   I tried the following fix to no avail:
http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/922976

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you do a clean install of the OS or are you trying to use the HDD that you used in the Asus build?

That could well be the problem. I would recommend doing a Clean Install with the BIOS set for AHCI Mode.
