Does overclocking throw off the system (date)/time?
« on: May 05, 2012, 07:06:21 pm »
Win 7x64, GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 and i7-2600K, 8gb DDR3 PC21333 RAM.  I've been playing a little with memory seetings and CPU clock ratio, the cpu anywhere from 3.4 to 3.8 and the memory mostly at 1866.  Does this throw off the time date/time clock in Windows?  I know how to reset the latter, but was wondering why discrepancies up to 3 minutes after only a couple of weeks with this mobo.  Thanks.

Hi

No, overclocking won't make any difference to your systems clock. The frequency that you set your components to run at is entirely seperate to the date and time display. The only time that you mightfind that it will change is that if you have a failed overclock and your system then reverts to the Backup BIOS if that clock is different then of course you will get a different display of time/date.

Ok, thanks.  Given how much the clock has been off in the first two weeks of operation, something I never saw with the same settings on the previous Gigabyte 790X board, what should I be looking at?

Maybe replacing the Motherboard battery for the CMOS?

Yes I agree. It is the only thing I could think of that could affect it.
