[GA-X58A-UD3R] Is my mothermoard defect?

I have several issues with my GA-X58A-UD3R motherboard.

1) If I remove the mains power, or physically switch the PSU off, the motherboard loses all BIOS settings.
2) I'm running firmware FF, and when I try to flash it with newer the Quick flash utility tells me that the BIOS has incorrect size, no matter which firmware (from the official download section) I try.
3) When trying to install Windows 7 64-bit, installation starts off, only to do a restart somewhere shortly after installation goes into graphical mode. No error message.

My power supply is Cooler Master GX 750W PSU, I don't run any form of OC.
