GA-870A-USB3 with FX-6100 not working F5d

I am sending this CPU back as I believe it is defective.

I am thinking of getting a AMD Phenom II X4 965 or FX-4100.

Can anyone suggest a good 4 core AMD CPU at a price range of $110.

I also want it compatible with Easy Tune 6.

What i meant by that isnt your problem is obvious at this point. Having the two different bios was not a problem if it wasnt working when your main bios was updated then copying that to both bioses wont work for you.

Get a FX 4100 , it s an excellent CPU.
Very cool CPU.

If you encounter over-voltage or something with that one too come on the forum and ask for info.

If you have serious issues with that one too change the motherboard.

My initial plan was to get the 4100 but since there was a sale on the 6100 it was $121 i figure spend the extra $11 and get a 6 core, how could I go wrong?

Well here it is, I must spend another $20 to send it back and settle for the one I wanted to get in the first place which is the FX4100.

As that board is supposed to be good for your 6100 i would keep it and take the board back and get a different one and have it flashed for you and tested b4 u get it. Even just an exchange should work even if you dont have it tested either the processor is bad or the motherboard take your pick and rma both if you have to.

Why do you say I should do an RMA for my board as well, I already sent the CPU back for a refund and I will be getting the FX4100, but this time I will be getting a NEW! one, so if that one still does not work, then definitely I will be sending the MoBo back.

Don t worry ,once they are brand new you should be able to enjoy Bulldozer
But make sure you start over-clocking one step at a time ,don t go directly to 4 Ghz

I don't plan on over clocking as I don't know how, but if I do, I might fry it, lol, as I am always tempted to go extreme. Well I hope it works when I get it in the next 2 weeks.

Being who i am i always play it safer than sorry if the cpu is bad fine a different one will work if there is a problem with the board and a processor that is certified to run on it then the board could have an issue. So me i would send both back and get new of both but the same model and so on.

I hope the 4100 works for you, but the FX-xxxx series chips are designed for the 9xx series boards only.  Gigabyte and others have patched the BIOS to force them to work on older motherboards.  I assume the only problem is the BIOS are still being debugged.  Contact Gigabyte and see if they have a newer BIOS to try.

You will probably have to send the 4100 back and  get an AM3 chip, or just get a 900 series board.  Or wait until a new bios is released.

I received the new FX4100 on Tuesday and it was working gust fine. I also overclocked it to 4.01Ghz, but it crashed, so I am running it at 3.7Ghz for now, it is quite faster than my old Athlon X4 620 2.6Ghz, but the quality score for my CPU is the same on Windows 7, rated at 7.2.

I appreciate all of your help so far and will continue coming here with any other issues I may have.
