GA-78LMT-S2P max ram?

GA-78LMT-S2P max ram?
« on: July 19, 2012, 12:44:12 am »
I'm confused on the maximum ram that can be used with GA-78LMT-S2P. The specifications tab on the motherboard page shows "16 GB of system memory" http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3833&dl=#sp

However, the user manual and multiple other sites (Newegg, Crucial, etc)  shows that it only supports 8 gb. I'm guessing that it's a typo on the system specs tab of the motherboard page. Anyone know for sure either way?

Thanks

Wierd but it happens i would go with 8 until you email gigabyte and asked about it. It is a 760g chipset which comes in both flavors some advertise 8 gig and others like the msi 760g chipset advertise 16 gigs so id very much like you to answer it back when you get a reply from them. Others might find it helpful also.

FYI, here's the response from Gigabyte:

"Dear Customer,

The website is correct which can support 16gb on this board, we will check with our team to modified the user manual. Do make sure that they are non ecc un-buffered memory"

Great news for GA-78LMT-S2 owners. Too bad every single tech site and ram upgrade site lists 8 GB as the maximum allowed. Now I'm looking for a good deal on a 2 x 8 GB kit.

Final followup:

I purchased the following from Newegg - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-16GBXL

Installed it and it is working flawlessly so far!

I have the same set with regards to the motherboard and ram.  However my rig will not boot up.  I am curious as to the possibilities for the this dilemma.  How did the process of installation occur when you installed the Ripjaws?  Did you just pop them in with you pc off, and then boot and every thing worked fine?  What rev is your board?  Did you make any changes in the BIOS?
