GA-MA790X-DS4 motherboard has no video after using unsupported RAM

GA-MA790X-DS4

AMD 790X Chipset

nvidia 8800 GTX PCI x16

AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core Processor 7850

Kingston KVR800D2N5/1G compatable(one beep)

I ran unsupported RAM and Windows setup crashed.

Now There Is no video.

I bought supported RAM and motherboard runs but video is dark.

Is there something I can do?

I tried removing battery to reset bios but no luck.

Are you sure it s not some coincidence of some sort ?!

1.8800GTX is old and video cards based on this 8xxx  chips have the habit to go bad by themselves or the video card itself brakes due to heat needing oven cooking for the chip to resolder.

2.Then it s the power supply that may have gone out due to more power consumption.
What power supply are you having there and how old is it ?!

3.Reset BIOS with battery out for some hours

4.Make sure that when installing the new RAM you inserted it correctly and that the case is not bent or something due to your installment.

5.Re-seat CPU and memory modules with the motherboard out of the case.
Over & Out !

AMD FX (APU-s included) users should install - KB2645594 & KB2646060 under Windows 7

1.ASUS Sabertooth 990FX 2.0 + FX 6300 + H60
2.MSI A88X-G41 PC Mate + A8 5600K + Hyper TX 2
3.Gigabyte F2A75-D3H + A4 5300
4.ASUS AM1M-A + Athlon 5150

Thank You.  All hardware installed well. Oops, My processor is:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Windsor 3.2GHz Socket AM2 125W Dual-Core Processor ADX6400CZBOX

Not on the motherboard support list.  Maybe It's a problem.

Board worked 5 years ago with supported RAM, But video didn't work during boot intermittently.

I'll try jumpering bios with battery removed overnight.

I have had that CPU , it s practically  a 140W TDP CPU.It s a very hot one.
Mine finally died after some FSB  overclocking :)

Keep in mind that a motherboard needs to be CPU 140 W TDP compatible to take it in the first place ,otherwise the motherboard CPU power supply sections will burn or enter over-current protection while you use it.
The same apply-es to the cooler used ,it must be 140W TDP compatible..

Looking on the motherboard product page it reveals 125 W TDP CPU compatibility , but not 140W .

Black screens ,freezing or sudden-shutdowns could mean power supply issues either with the Power Supply itself either with the motherboard CPU VRM section ,but they can also be thermal related issues as well..

Make sure you have a good 500W PSU minimum.

Use only 2 sticks of RAM with this CPU ,the IMC works good and CPU is cooler while using only 2 banks .

If you are using more than 2 sticks  you will have to drop the RAM speed under what this  memory controller  can take as top speed.Don t mix memory brands.

To make sure that  the motherboard hasn t died already try another supported AM2 + CPU.

I should have supplies more information. My motherboard GA-MA790X-DS4 worked 5 Years ago

except occasionally It would have no video during boot.  I waited a few minutes and It started fine.

It's not been used at all since.  It's been used only a few hours. I had built 2 other computers.

The board and 8800 vidcard have sat unused.

I setup Windows recently and computer died half way through.

I have other motherboard for computer and during use power supply failed.

I have new powersupply tested with other board.

The CPU isn't on support list but similar Phenom II X6 1090T(3200 125 Watt) is.

I originally bought a  GA-MA790X-DS(5) and It never had any video.

I bought another and same thing.  There was something on web about bios freeze.

This motherboard doesn't have dual-bios and it seems to boot:

one beep during boot and keyboard lights brink but there's no video.

I feel that powersupply, RAM and videocard are good and installed properly.
