Gigabyte 990xa-ud3 + Corsair Vengeance Dual Channel 2x4GB Conflict problem?

Hello. First I want to say - sorry for my english. So now: I have a problem. When I play Darksiders II or Bad Company 2 after some time my sound freeze then my screen, so only the solution to fix it is - reboot/restart. Here is the video of this problem -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CKxoL84Vp0 . I'm not sure that the problem is because there is conflict with motherboard and memory but in Bulgarian forum told me that and told me to ask you. With all other games like Battlefield 3/GTA IV/League of Legends/World of Warcraft/Prototype 2/Sleeping Dogs and more i don't have any problems. In prime95 after 1 hour there's no problem so I stopped the test. In Aida64 after memory test, there's no crash or freeze. Cinebench also is fine. Thanks in advance and again really sorry for my english  :) .

Please post full configuration of the PC ,including power supply and OS version.
Also tell us if the OS & these games are genuine.
You should mention the security software you are using as well.

I had such issues in the past and it was a combination of factors.
You will have to swap CPU ,memory ,the video card and the hard drive unfortunately , to see if the issues goes away.

You should also take a look in the Event manager to see if there is any error (with it s code) occuring at the freeze time.

First thing you should do is some memory testing ( or swap).
Use Memtest and run 25 passes of it on both sticks ,then on each one of them and then in all slots with any of them and see if any error occurs.
It can be very well an unmatched pair of RAM sticks that in specific stress conditions generates some error in some driver.

I am owning a 6950 unlocked to 6970 ,running Catalyst 12.1 ,under W7 X64 up to date and neither BF BC2 neither BF 3 are behaving. So you could try running this driver to be on the safe side video driver wise.

A security suite can give freezes as well ,if you are using such remove it temporarelly.

That is a hardware crash. You have your 8120 set to 3.8 Ghz, could you tell me a little about your voltages and how you have it set up? Do you have it on Auto or have you increased your vcore?

Not in Auto. In manual and voltage on full load in cinebench is 1.328V and there's no crash when use all cores, why you are thinking in games like Darksider II where my cpu use only half cores it crashes because of voltage? Soon I'll test and memory.

If you really want troubleshooting please reset BIOS settings to default.

Put the system on defaults , test the machine ,test the games so we can see what is the problem.
Any tweak you ve made can have as a result instability ,overclocking does this often.

Generally it is better to set the BIOS to Optimum BIOS Default settings not just Default settings for stability. I would recommend that you do this instead.

Im saying that it is a instability crash, a hardware lock up crash. Notice how it never BSOD but it completely locked up. I used to play a game called Mass effect 2 and I had my CPU OC to 4 Ghz and i was running in to instability issues and glitches. Even though your system can run at 3.8 Ghz for hours maxed out still never mean your system is stable. I would try to just under clock you system to 3.4 Ghz or 3.5 Ghz or even stocked speeds. You want to bring everything back down to optimum settings and then slowly bring you clock speeds up a little and see if you ran in to issues.

What bios version are you running on the motherboard ? Which set of DIMMs are you using ?

Try updating/ reflashing the bios to F12 or F13b. Then power down, clear the CMOS and load optimal settings once you boot it back up.

I've also noticed that any overclock 4ghz and up become unstable if I leave the DDR3 Timing Items on auto.

AMD Graphics. Wind the drivers back to 12.3 and see how it goes.

I found the problem. Just need to make voltage of graphics card 1.081V, it was ~1.060. Thanks for trying to help. And for final ask. What do you think for upgrade the 6950 to 7950 Gigabyte WF X3 version?

Good to hear you figured it out.

Its kind of a tough call on the upgrade because you could crossfire the 6950 for about half the cost 7950. Tbh, I would wait untill the 8000 series come out in a few months.

Hello guys. I'm not sure that this theme is already closed and I have to create new. So now i want to ask you something. Why when i put my ram 2x4GB on DDR3_1 and DDR3_2 my motherboard beep for problem with memory. When it is on DDR3_3 and DDR3_4 its run OK. I'm asking because I'm going to put Prolimatech Armageddon and I want my Vengeance to be further from my CPU and his new cooler...

Did you try clearing the CMOS/bios ?

Try the ram in those slots again. You may have not had them seated properly.

If the mobo's bios is F11 or older, try F12 or F13b.
