GA-MA69VM-S2 (strange BIOS problem)
« on: October 01, 2012, 02:00:59 pm »
I know it's an old motherboard but it's still a problem that I haven't found solution to.

- I bought this motherboard with AMD 770 BIOS for GA-MA770-US3 FD (I don't really know how it happened, but it happened?!?!)

- I now want to upgrade bios to version F10E, so I can put in 95W phenom II x4 955 BE in it.

- I am unable to update it from any available source. I've tried @bios, motherboard F8 bios flash and creating bootable DOS only USB to start autoexec.bat from it.

- Main problem during all of these procedures was that my new bios size and my old bios size do not match. For example: if I try to use @bios to load new bios from file to put F10E in it sends a message "can not load rom image from bin file. Maybe bin file size don't match" Also when I use F8 Bios flash I am told also that it is unable to do anything because of different file sizes of bios files (file size of my existing bios is 1M and F10E size is 512 kb). I am not sure in anything, but in the fact that main problem here is that my motherboard has some other motherboard bios in it.

Thank you for your help in advance.

I see your motherboard has a bios version made out of letters and you are trying to flash a different nomenclature BIOS on it.
That motherboard has more versions and each version has different nomenclature for BIOS files.

Take a look on the motherboard and see what version it is and then go on the website and look at the BIOS-es made and intended for your version.

You can not flash across versions.

Also the CPU support list tells you what BIOS version supports your CPU.

So what version is your motherboard ,what is written on it?!

Look here ,there are 1.0 ,2.0 and 2.1 versions ,each with it s own page : http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3303

Yes, as you said, motherboard is 2.0 rev and after figureing this part out I had very little problems flashing my bios to latest version.

Thank you very much for this simple, but hard to find information.
