Incompatibility motherboard gigabyte ga-ma770t-ud3
« on: October 03, 2012, 07:02:11 am »
Good morning. I own this motherboard gigabyte ga-ma770t-ud3 (with AMD Phenom II x6 1055, Sapphire 7870 2GB, 2x2GB ddr3 133 goodram, win7 x64 sp1), bios version F10. Have such problem: motherboard doesn't work with 4gb ram modules. Tried modules goodram and amd, same result: black screen, long beeps from pc speaker, system doesn't start. Have anyone had this problem?

Hi there,

Long beeps from motherboard speaker usually indicates a problem with the graphic card. Have you made sure it is seated correctly and also that it has any power cable(s) attached if they are needed?
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

It's definitely memory problem, when using 2GB modules system works fine. Problem starts when I try to replace 2GB with 4GB modules. Even when single 4GB module is placed system doesn't starts and beeps. Tested my both videocards (7870 and 5770), 4GB is the source of problem.

To identify if the board could be in culprit try another CPU as well. The memory controller is in the CPU ,so if you have issues with memory you have 2 parts involved.Check the CPU installation ,check for bent pins as well ,move the 4G sticks in all slots on the motherboard.

Also you could try the following ,maybe your RAM is over-clocking stuff and requires more volts to start.
With the 2giga  sticks (the ones that work) up the voltage in BIOS for the memory ,save restart ,turn off and then install the 4 giga sticks. For DDR 3 the auto voltage in BIOS should be 1,5 Volts ,you can try 1,55V and then 1,6 Volts to see what happens.

Also it could be the case that the ram you are trying is simply defective.

Please post the name of the memory modules that work and the name of the ones that don t.

Also post the name of the power supply and your full system configuration as in the sticky in the AMD section.Maybe the few watts the RAM you are installing adds are over the limit for your power supply.

For the moment I do not have posibility to try another cpu (don't have the one), but can say this  (4GB) memory worked fine with my friend's computer (Phenom II x4 940 and Asrock motherboad on some new chipset). Moving modules to different slots doesn't change anything. Memory works on defaults (no overclocking). Modules that works are DDR3 RAM 2Gb 1333Mhz Goodram CL9; the ones that doesn't work are  DDR3 RAM 4GB 1333MHz Goodram CL9. PSU - Xilence 700W.

If it s still under warranty send it for a diagnosis to the reseller.
