Gigabyte Z77x Ud3h Error 53
« on: October 11, 2012, 02:03:49 pm »
Hey guys,

I have searched online and I have searched here for this issue and I found very little to go off.  I realize it is an issue with memory, but I have had no luck resolving this.  I tried using only one stick, multiple sticks, etc.  I have tried different slot placement - I have tried literally every slot with a single stick and a myriad of variations with multiple ram sticks.  Everything else is connected properly and at this point I have no idea what is going on.  Also, I thought there was an issue with my motherboard and I returned it and got  a new one, so I have a hard time believing the issue is with the mobo.

My set up currently:
Uzz7x Ud3h motherboard
Intel i5 3570k
Corsair 750W
Nvidia GTS 450
SSD Crucial M4
HDD Seagate
Crucial Ram 2x4gb (1600 I believe)

Any ideas?

Hi and welcome.

Firstly are you certain that the memory is compatible with the motherboard. Not just any old DDR3 RAM will work. You don't even sound certain what sticks you have got.

Secondly what beep code does it make as that can be more useful than the error code when trying to track down the fault.

Is this a new build totally or has it been working at all ?

By the way there is no such motherboard as the Uzz7x Ud3h ! We would need the model number and revision to be able to offer much help.

Sorry for the vagueness/typo.  Below is the RAM and motherboard information:

Motherboard:
GA-Z77X-UD3H

http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4153#fq

RAM:
Crucial Ballistix sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model BLS2KIT4G3D1609DS1S00

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148544

I have contacted Crucial customer support and they confirmed that the ram is compatible with the motherboard.    I was looking on the compatibility list:

http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-z77x-ud3h.pdf

And didn't see that model exactly, instead they have another crucial model under the official support: BLT4G3D1608DT1TX0.16FM.  However, the support person at Crucial assured it would work fine.

Any suggestions?  I am 100% everything besides the RAM is plugged in correctly.  There is absolutely no beeping sounds, only the error code is an indicator.

Hi,

Thanks for the detailed list. It makes everything much clearer. The memory should  be fine and don't worry that iot isn't on the Gigabyte list as it is far from exhaustive. Always better to check the memory manufacturer's list for compatibility with the motherboard.

Have you installed the RAM in the correct slots ? That is the first two DDR3_1 and DDR3_2.

Have you got a buzzer/speaker installed ? If not you won't hear any beep codes. If not I would suggest buying one (only a few cents) as they are extremely usefull.

Have you made sure that your power supply is a decent one and powerful enough ? Also make sure that you have both the 24 pin and the 8 pin plugs firmly connected to the motherboard.

No problem on the list, I should have included that right off the bat.  I inserted the RAM one by one into each slot and I also attempted to set up dual channel memory.  In case the RAM is bad, I tested it on another computer and it appears to work fine.  I don't have a buzzer/speaker hooked up to the mobo, but I will get one set up - can it tell me something the error message is not?  I have been in contact with Gigabyte customer support and they have not really helped - they keep suggesting things I have tried.

My PSU is really good.  It is a Corsair TX 750W, so it can def. handle the set up I have.  I have the big 24 pin and the smaller 8 pin plugged in,  I have my old HDD hooked up to the SATA socket/PSU, I have the CPU installed and the CPU fan plugged in, and I am using the on board video - am I missing anything.  I feel like I am missing something really simple. >_<
